Price to retint the camaro? Need to replace 5% with 25% - Texas Legal Reasons

I just drove home my new camaro this weekend!! It was used but in awesome condition. Definitely the best looking camaro I've seen in my area.

It came from another state and I have to get it inspected this week locally. Im afraid they will fail my inspection and write it on my record because of the tint. I read that Texas inspections fail you if you have more than a 25% tint.

How much does it cost to retint a car? (Have them remove the 5% then put on a 25%)

And are there different kinds of tints? I really regret having to remove my 5% because it looks nice. I don't want to replace it with a cheaper tint version.

Thanks!! Can't wait to get it inspected so I can actually start driving it! Ok amazed I wasn't pulled over on my 9th drive back home with no tags or inspection. It was fun though!

you should call you local shop. you'll get a better idea of how much they'll charge.

When you go to get inspected drive up with the windows down. Chances are with such a new car they might not even check. If they do check it you'll be no worse off. I want to say tint would be around $200 give or take a few. Congrats and good luck!

My shop charged $200 to do an excellent job all the way around, and said to redo the fronts would be $99.

Nice! 99? For a redo? Seems just right to me. But I have a feeling I won't be able to find the same price

Are there different brands of tint and quality?

And I think I might try and get it inspected today with the windows down and retint next paycheck.

If they fail me due to tint, does anything go on the cars record or reported?

Had to scrape off the tint. Went in and before it ended they said the tint had to be lighter. We scraped it then and there... looks horrible now.

Hopefully there will be a tint shop open tomorrow to re-tint it.

Just curious about the whole inspection, this must be a Texas thing?

What exactly are they inspecting, and what's the purpose?

Up here we have to pass emission testing but thats strictly for environmental reasons. No one is looking or caring about my tints or missing front plate ect. That stuff only comes into play when a cop pulls me over and wants to make an issue of it.

Can tint be put over tint?
I have 20% on the side windows and it is not dark enough for me, I was wondering if they could put 5% tint over the 20% that is already on the windows.

i think you can tint over tint but i wouldnt but 5% on top becasuse then you would only get 5% of how dark it is already which you would be looking at limo tint
