Sad Day
Finished dealing with insurance today, total loss. Thankfully no one was hurt, older guy said he just didn't see me and pulled out right into me trying to cross the HWY while I was going 60. Saw him coming and couldn't do anything but slam the breaks and try to turn into the median. Ended up 75 yards from point of contact after sliding for a while, very lucky I didn't make it to the other side of the road and oncoming traffic. Super disappointed, wasn't planning on getting rid of this thing anytime soon. Hands down best car I have ever owned. Never had a single problem out of it, GM did an amazing job with these looks and all. I'd say it took the hit pretty well and kept me safe. I was even able to limp it home after the tow truck pulled me out since I was only about a minute away. After going back and forth for a while I decided to buy it back from insurance, going to use the drive-train in my dad's 71. Be careful out there, you can't control what other people do....

Damn, sorry about what happened & your loss, but happy to hear you are alright ... cars can be replaced, people can't.

Sorry to see that, but glad you did not get hurt. Synergy green is one color car you can usually see coming a mile away.

Glad your OK and worked out a fair settlement (the other guys insurance I hope).
I wonder at this point how many 5th Gens have met a similar fate. Hundreds I bet.

I already bought it back, going get it Wednesday. They stopped the tear down a little above 15k in damages most of which was labor. All suspension components on the passenger front are bent and his frame gouged the body pretty bad behind the fender. Body shop said they know there is more bent that they didn't get to yet but they stopped looking when they received the value. We both had the same insurance, and he was straight up with what happened and took fault and all that so his policy took care of everything. I think they were fair with the settlement, and buyback price. I feel like as far as insurance goes I got pretty lucky, I have heard some horror stories and there are a lot of drivers around here with no insurance at all. I may tear it down some more when I get some time and really check it out, but for now the plan is to transplant what I can to the 2nd gen, find a cheap truck, and save for another Camaro. If I save for a year or two I may be able to swing a used ZL1. Just have to deal with being Camaroless for a little while.
