AFM disabler is the hot ticket.

The slip tables fry the tc l/u clutch.

I hope the SS A10 is better but...

The ZL1 A10 does NOT use AFM. No AFM - no shudder.

The SS A10 DOES use AFM. Uses AFM - shudder likely.

Units with no issues may be related to less highway use - less AFM.

Automatics are so much more complicated than manuals. The special fluid, no dip stick any more and it's not as easy to just drop the pan and change the fluid like it was in the past. Manuals you change the fluid easily in your garage- unscrew the drain plug, drain and refill. You have clutches to deal with but if you know how to drive a manual and don't abuse it, they should last a long time.

After the A8 issue in my Camaro I will never buy automatic again- and manuals are getting more scarce by the day and less and less people know how to drive them- and even less properly.

Every dealer I went to while test driving cars shopping to replace my Camaro commented how well I drove a M/T- the car did not buck and I shifted smooth between gears. While maybe not drag strip fast as an automatic, manual transmission is true old fashioned, pure driving delight.

Get a good teacher and buy one with manual transmission. I have read of almost no issues with Camaros with M/T.

I would not buy another A8 or any other GM automatic. After having the shutter issue we went to look at a new Impala but decided not to get another GM. Bought an Accord instead.

This is disheartening. I've been in the market for a while but after reading this I might look elsewhere for a V8.

I bought used, early 2016, having this in mind. The car was free from it during the test drive and for the following year, then a slight shudder during hot summer day had me do the triple flush.

I expect for this to return at some point, maybe. But I still like the A8 and I'd do it again, even if later down the line I'd need to flush again, tune out slip tables or swap the converter... bring it on.

For now, the feeling and sound of the beast bumping through the gears at WOT is enough to compensate for these concerns. That thing is solid.
