Just went to the parking lot and turned the car on for a moment and it was 100 (pretty accurate).

Now, the test will be when I go back to the car in 2.5 hours and drive for some time...

The OAT sensors on all cars do a very bad job of measuring the actual "real temperature" because they're subject to heat soak from the road, the body of the car and the engine.

It's not unusual to see abnormally high readings on these displays, which I've always referred to as "road temp".

I've never seen a temp reading of 136, but I've seen 110-115 while moving at 70 MPH on the NJ Turnpike and 120 while stuck in traffic.

Incidentally, The Hottest Place on Earth is the NYC subway's platforms for the #2 and #3 train in midtown. I've seen recorded, actual temperatures of 148 degrees.

I work at a steam power plant and I can tell you 140F is unbreathable. Did you find it hard to breathe? If not it could be a false indication.

Well, I can't stand the heat so I always find it hard to breathe in 90+ degree weather. I don't think it was actually 136 degrees outside (probably around 100), but I was just curious as to what exactly affects the temperature sensor.

WHOSE pic is fake? My pic is real. The one Austin James posted was a Photoshopped version of my pic. I thought that would have been obvious to all when he said that he was in Alaska and it was 163 degrees (aside from the fact that it was the same exact pic as mine, except for two switched numbers).

Heard the whining on CNN about the "terrible East Coast heatwave".

The South says, "give me a break".

Our service men and women in Afghanistan say, "lol".

The highest I've seen is 121°F. Last year we had 69 days IN A ROW of over 100°F temps! Toasty!
