How would a stock Z/28 do against a stock ZL1 in the quarter mile? Anyone have any idea which would have the edge.

ZL1 would kill it.

You think so? Advertised 1/4 times are damn near identical.

believe it or not.....the ZL1 has the advantage, I talked to the guys at CFEST at length, and they said "HANDS DOWN THE ZL1 in a drag race, but as soon as you put a turn or corner on the road, the Z28 will cook a ZL1. After all, the Z28 was MADE for a road course"

So I gotta believe them.....after all, they know what they are talking about

How much is left on that motor in NA form, meaning how much can be gotten out of a LS7 in N/A form...reliably? I like the mods done, great combo.

The Z/28 is NOT a 1/4 mile car. It is set-up for road racing. Check the 1/4 mile fast times for ZL1's on here. Some members have run 11.7's BONE STOCK. The fastest magazine test 1/4 for the Z/28 I have seen is 12.3.

it's like asking "How would a COPO do against a ZL1 in the 1/4 mile". One is made for one thing, and it does that one thing better than anyone else.

There are bigger camshafts I suppose, you can raise the compression, we have had these motors up to 580 plus at the wheels, but drivability is not the best, we felt this is a package you can drive everyday, and still track the car with all the reliability of the stock engine.

We did upgrade the exhaust valves since there is a lot of concern about the two piece exhaust valves, so we upgraded to a Manley severe duty Inconel valve

The headers do NOT fit properly, we sent pictures to ARH of the clearance issues, = although they claim they build them for an LS7 in a Camaro, all they really do is an ls3 header and correct the exhaust port flange.

Being that this motor is a dry sump and has different needs, Nick the owner is trying to find one to build a specific Z-28 set. He is a gem to work with.

The nice thing is that the headers save almost 25 lbs of the manifolds and cats

Would like to have seen what the Z/28's time was at the Nurburgring in dry conditions. A 7:37 in the rain is absolutely amazing.

I'd bet on the Z28 it's lighter!
