Fantastic!!!! Love the grain and pop in the wood, the slightly open grain, always love wood to be wood, not some over glossed glassy thing. Simply beautiful as wood should be!!! |

I've played for over 35 years and have a small gear collection. I've been in a handful of bands, but nothing was terribly long-lasting.
I have two different amps that I purchased as combos and then pulled the guts to convert them to head units. Mesa Express 5:50 and Mesa Lonestar Special (this is NOT the Lonestar - it's a totally different amp!). I use these with Mesa 2x12 3/4 back cabinets, and predominantly use only the Lonestar Special because it's -so- versatile (and there's little on the market that has a reverb channel that can compete). My guitars consist of a 2006 American Deluxe Strat, 1985 Kramer Focus 6000, a "Winter", MIM Strat, and a Taylor electric acoustic. With the exception of the MIM Strat, I bought all of them new. I have a variety of Boss pedals including a tuner, acoustic, trem, echo, and a couple of others. I also have the EVH flanger and Wah pedal. With so much going on with repairing / remodeling things in my home and getting the Camaro up to where I want it, I really haven't touched a guitar in at least a year. I'm hoping that once I sell this place and we pick out our long-term home together that I'll be able to have some guitars out on display and within grabbing distance more regularly. Doubt I'll ever gig again unless I connect up with someone that wants to do an acoustic duo sort of thing. |

Nice! I hear you about time especially lately.
I do not gig anymore, but I do get together with a couple of other guys 1-2 a month and make noise for several hours. We do it for fun these days. Amps I run a wet/dry dual setup. "Dry" is an EVH EL34 50 watt head through a Marshall 2X12, nothing but gain, no effects. The second "wet" amp is a Peavey 6105+ 12 which I run my small amount of effects through (not a huge pedal guy, I like simple!). An MXR carbon copy, and MXR analog chorus, MXR PHase 90 and MXR Flanger. Now that this thread is revived, it reminds me, I started it with some guitars I was working on which I have completed. Seems I need to get some pics in here soon!!! |

I have to try and get some current photos of my gear. Everything I have is a decade old (or older)... |

OK, bringing my old post back from the dead...lol
What do you do in your spare time thread triggered me coming back to this. Some recently finished guitars.... Black Les Paul type, Fender scale, surface mounted floyd. This was in construction last time I posted, now completed. I call it "Fester" (Lester's Cousin lol) Drop top 5A flame strat type hardtail, black limba body, birdseye neck and ebony board - the "Balkocaster" (play on my last name) Drop top quilted maple, black limba body, flame maple neck and ebony board, Gotoh floyd unit "Balkocaster F" My original "Frankenbass", a bass that wants to be a frankenstrat! Whammy and all... And finally, the Shark, I started with an explorer type set neck, hacked up the body, and there you go!!!! lol No explanation needed i trust.... I loved both of my amp setups as a combo because it was "all in one". Both were 1x12, though. For me, it made more sense to pull the amp units and convert them to head units and leverage external 2x12 cabinets. And I have to say... the "thump" you get on the lows with a partially enclosed back is more substantial than what I could get out of the open-backed combo's.

Solid, closed back 2-12 will pack plenty of punch for sure! 4-12 is so 80's and SO HEAVY!!!!! But still use one occasionally, they are glorious! Currently, stereo 4-12 is split as a "dual 2-12" for two different amps. Not the setup I use, that's the guest setup for others. But it surely works! I do like to mix the amps and settings, great tonal ranges, always chasing tone, that's me! Love the journey. |

I have the 5 piece Tama Superstar and plenty of cymbals, not quite that many, but a few! I am going to add a third aerial and a second floor tom very soon. I play occasionally, but this is jam session home studio, so it gets played plenty! They need more stuff to hit! LOL!!! |

Everything is covered and stacked in the laundry room now, though. No space to set anything up, and no time to play anyhow. When we figure out where we want to move to, there will likely be enough room that I can keep some gear out and play a bit as time might allow. |

For sure, banging around smokin' hot tubes BAD! Snap crackle and pop!
Life happens, I was in a similar situation, most gear I sold or stored what I could. Once moved, bam, back in business!!! I was not happy not having some toys! Best of luck and hope you get moved and playing again soon!!! |
