What is the proper way to clean a Camaro engine bay?

What is the proper way to clean a Camaro engine bay? Which vital components are you covering up to prevent damage from soap and water?

I just use a micro fiber cloth and some detailing spray and wipe EVERYTHING I can get to.

I soak my whole engine bay underhood included with Simple Green. Let it sit 5-10 minutes. Spray again the dry spots maybe. Use a sponge or rag on dirty spots if any. Spray it down with a hose avoiding the obvious intake and electrical components. I've never had a problem.

Like what was mentioned above. I use detail spray and micro fiber towels. The key is to never let the engine bay get real dirty. Wipe it down after every wash and you will be pleased with the results. Here’s a pic of my 10 year old engine bay.

As DAB says above, the KEY to having a clean engine bay is to NEVER let it get dirty. Another thing is when you do use a micro and detail spray, let the engine bay cool down considerable before you do it so you don't burn yourself and the spray doesn't dry on the components and you have to do it twice. 10 year old Camaro with 116k miles on her and is a daily driver. Good luck.

I use Simple Green with a 3" paint brush on the outer perimeter items including the shock towers and inner fenders. Then use a Light hose spray to rinse it off. It gets all the nooks and crannies clean. I then dry everything including the engine top. My SS is 11 years old now and still looks great. There's no reason to soak or rinse the engine itself.

Just gorgeous especially at 10 years.

I have trouble cleaning around the coil packs on the holley valve covers. Any ideas appreciated!
