Exclamation 1LE Vs SS

I have a 2015 2SS 1LE cat delete and drop in k&n filter 410 whp

My friend got a 2010 2SS manual with airaid cai, 1 3/4 LT headers and xpipe. 410 whp.

Same dyno same tuner.

Rolling race 40 mph I thought i got this. He put 2 cars lengths on me though!!!!

Same driver skills.

What's going on!!!!??

Did you drop a gear when you took off?
Headers do make a difference plus I don’t think you have 410 whp with those mods

Dyno print outs could be helpful to look at. Are those corrected numbers? How many torques? Weather was probably completely different on the two dyno runs.

He could have more torque and more average power than you do, peak number is only part of the story, and since he has LTH that would make some sense.

Did you try the rolls from different speeds? 1LE has longer, close ratio 1st to 3rd gears for road course work, and a 3.91 r&p ratio to help it come back up to similar to SS acceleration, so something weird could be going on there.

You guys may be shifting differently too...switch cars for the next comparison run.

I ran a friend of mine as well who had a 2010 SS LS3 with a CAI, no tune. No matter where we ran from, gear or mph wise he would always pull me by at least 2 car lengths. We never ran from a dig though. If you look at 1/4 mile times for both vehicles the SS is usually 2 tenths quicker than the 1LE. It’s the way the tranny is geared in our cars, they are not built for straight track. Now look at times for our 1LE at VIR raceway vs the SS. If I remember correctly we are 9 seconds quicker around that track.

This is an interesting situation. That's a big difference.

The 1le has no advantage with the 3.91s. The trans ratios are different between the 1le & the ss. The 3.91s were added to the 1le to bring the overall ratios back equal to the ss with 3.45s. The only gear that the 1le has the advantage gearing wise is 4th. If you look at overall ratios (trans gear ratio multiplied be rear gear ratio) you will see that they are almost identical. Not knocking 1le's at all, just wanted to clarify as to why the 1le's got the 3.91s from the factory. 3.91s with an ss trans is fun.

1le's come with those big ass 285's up front and a heavy ass cast wheel to pack it in, in drag racing that is not helping.

I test drove a 2013 ss manual back in 2014. I don't know, but my 1LE feels much faster than that car ever did.

Forged not cast and they weight a few pounds lighter than the SS wheels from the post on here.

Well, my car was having an issue, used to pull timing due to knock.
My tires were shot so he had the advantage. Was planning to redo the race but he sold his car.

Get headers and a tune, my 1le as well as any LS3 responds incredibly to those mods.

I hate how my 1LE falls on its face sometimes trying to take off quick. Seems like throttle response is a little laggy. My wife's 14 SS sedan feels like it's ready to eat taking off WOT.
