Thank you for the help Dega Man.

Does anyone know if a Canadian auto parts supplier has the same product that Advance Auto Parts in the US can supply?

Thanks.

I think several auto suppliers carry HELP products.

I just noticed mine was leaking today. I looked at it briefly and it looks to be leaking from the seams which skylane765 disagrees with. I will look at it closely tomorrow to see if it's running down the sides to the seams.

What was the ultimate remedy for this? I do not want it to sit at the dealer for such a small fix... milk carton washer?

for those who do plan to make their own DIY.

Any concern the (home-made) material used deteriorating due to brake fluid heat etc?

No, because the fluid never touches the spacer, we have a rubber bladder between it and fluid. The material is to make the bladder tighter fit.

The material for the spacer is plastic from a milk jug and brake fluid comes in a plastic bottle so no worries. I think the replacement piece is a better choice for $6 IMHO.

Paper would work, the fluid never touches the spacer. Plastic I ok and better than paper. The problem with a replacement, it's the same as the one that leaks and still is loose depending on the cap. I have the latest cap on the Z28 and it leaked a bit.

I have changed caps on my Z28 and the washer worked the new cap never did. Everybody thinks it's the seams, but you can check by just putting some toilet paper around the bottom of the cap and you will see it goes to the paper and not the seams. The tank is pressure tested when molded but not with the cap we get with the car.

so does that $6 advance auto gasket works (posted earlier in this thread), or should I go with the plastic-DIY?

You have the Advanced gasket (bladder) that is not the problem. The problem is the cap is not tight to keep the bladder from leaking. No need for the bladder (gasket)
