Because Freddie Kitchens and Baker Mayfield are on the same wavelength. Under Kitchens, Mayfield went from lower mid pack QB to top five*. And he's young enough to hopefully coach Mayfield throughout his carreer. The Browns are hoping for a Belicheck/Brady, Payton/Brees kind of thing.

Sean Payton was never a coordinator at all before becoming head coach and that has worked out pretty well for the Saints.

Yeah, forgot about the OT win early in the season. It’s still really early and I’m always skeptical of any team with a rookie QB. We’ll see how he does in Year 2. Only reason you think your team is rosy is because of those glasses you got on. Sure, winning 7 games after 0-16 might seem nice, but realistically, they are probably somewhere between how they played under Hue and how they played under Gregg.

Miami won 11 games and won their division after going 1-15. I thought they had a really bright future. Instead, they have been a near .500 team Since 2008.

Sure, it’s nice to think you have a Brady or Brees on your team, but those are exceptions to the rule.

But who knows, maybe the browns actually struck it rich. I just have my doubts. And the history of the browns backs up my skepticism.

in the last 15 years, Coaches that have been promoted from within have a very low Winning % ( mostly from inheriting bad rosters & Owners hiring on the cheap) and on average last 2 1/2 Years.

In Cleveland a Coach Averages 2 Years! 10 Coaches in 20 Years. They had Belichick, he went 36-44!

To use your train analogy Cleveland has to lay down some good track for that train to run on, they have a good offensive base to build around him, now they have to do some work on building their defense.
