Why is the CTS 195" long? It's on Alpha as well.

I was hoping it would be as small as the ATS coupe.
There was no way GM was going to change the size of the Camaro that much.

In one of the reveal pics, there was mention that the new alpha platform has been widened and streched to acheive the iconic camaro structure.

Camaro’s Alpha Platform
While the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will ride on the same Alpha chassis platform as some other GM vehicles, the dimensions of the chassis have been stretched for Camaro use. The chassis has been lengthened in order to give the 2016 Camaro the proper nose to tail proportions while being widened for better stability and cornering capabilities. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as the Cadillac ATS Coupe that uses the same Alpha chassis base simply wouldn’t look right when covered in Camaro skin, so the longer, wider car will make a fitting Camaro.

Found it....

I have owned 2 5th gens and the visibility is awful front and back. No wonder they felt they had o mention it. But with the extremely silly reaction to the 14/15 tail lights I do not blame them for being gun shy and keeping the looks about the same. Camaro owners do not want a new look, they want more of the same.

And BTW the new GT PP runs camparable times to the 1LE. And the handling has been widely praised. It is cool the standard SS will be close to a 1LE. Good stuff.

Reading this thread is hilarious! If anyone of you actually believe this "leaked memo" is indeed a leaked memo...then GM really does know your all fools!

This is no memo...this is information intentionally leaked by GM...plain and simple.

Who here has said they believe it's actually a "leak"?

Lots of "Negative Nellies" around these parts. Let me clue you in on something important. Less LBs. More HP. MRC. Duh?

Unfortunately they aren't going to reveal actual weight and hp tomorrow. Let's hope it's not a big let down like the Mustang guys experienced.

There was some tool in the Mustang board claiming we are in for a heavier 440hp car all because of the ats-v weight. Good for a laugh, but then it got sad when he started talking about how the new mustang will loose a bunch if weight and make 480hp with DI. Such denial, such sadness. Unfortanetely with the specs most likely being held back for months we can't prove what's already known - hardware wise, Camaro will be boss, by a good margin.

Don't know what that means but if you mean it runs slower with less weight and more hp you are right.

I wonder what the four cylinder weights. If the 1LS 3.6 m6 currently weights 3760, removing 70 lbs. of engine, and adding 30 lbs of turbo.... 3500 lbs four cylinder coupe is still about 1000 lbs heavier than the BRZ. Except its a turbo, and more solid. It does make sense to use the four cylinder as the base engine. Torque spec is decent 290 ft/lbs should be respectable, but still 30 less than the stang. So I'm thinking the base Camaro will still be slightly faster than the optional ecoboost. At least 440 hp from the LT1 probably refers to the auto. 7 speed?

Agreed!

And to referrence 1971-1995 as an argument for it makes it even worse.

Where has this happened? There has only been one track where the s550 beat the 1le by 2 hundredths of a second or a blink of a eye, so thus a tie. But there is no way you can count that as being equal when you have different drivers on different days. In a head to head battle, with same driver on same day, the 1le won easy.

I was hoping for 460 hp for the LT1 and I think we will see somewhere around that for the final numbers. My concern is the weight and f/r weight ratio. The LT1 is heavier than the LS3. Will the new SS actually weight 200-lbs less than the outgoing SS; or any they comparing base models? I have a feeling we may see very similar numbers to the 5th gen when the dust settles. Let's hope not.
