Adding front camera

Has anybody installed a front camera with the factory radio? I'm a professional installer but I don't have access to any companies that make an integration device yet. I was told to reach out to NAV-TV. They offer a GM-LVDS. A peer of mine has used their stuff and says that it works great. Have any of you guys used it?

I looked into the Gen5DIY guys kit. They use a PAC module. (I sell PAC) I gave them a call and they said that they don't have anything for this application yet.

Its the same price at the guys at Gen5DIY but you don't have to send in your radio. I don't like having my car down to send my unit in. Thoughts?

That would be awesome to have a front (and possibly side) cameras integrated into the factory unit, but to me it's not worth voiding the warranty over.

Im not sure how it would void the warranty if it's a plug in box. I would make the box easily removable so if there was a problem I could return it to stock.

My understanding is the box for camera integration is only one part of the issue. You need the firmware on MyLink updated so you can have an app to launch it. That's why gen5diy needs the radio sent in and why you would lose the warranty.

I'm going to try the NAV-TV unit. It does not require me to send my unit in therefore it can't void the warranty. I will let you guys know if it works out.

One, did you talk to someone from their support team? No Camaro model is listed as working with the device you listed.

Two, maybe gen5diy can shed some light but this kit looks like a video intercept device designed for using a backup camera. So it plugs in between the backup camera output and myLink screen, then piggy backs it's video output on to it. Essentially only working for you when you have the shifter in reverse. I saw the instructions mention hitting Home and Menu buttons will force the display (which you would need to for a front camera), but it may only work on the vehicles they list.

I talked with their support team. They said that it will work with the camaro as long as it has the larger screen.

I wanted to post of my front camera installed. I just want to warn anyone that wants to do this. If you are going to use a backup camera to do this, make sure that you can flip the image orientation on the screen. Most cheap cameras can flip but most expensive cameras can't. The kenwood cmos-230 is a great camera but won't work because the image cannot be flipped.

Well the brand that I have is pretty easy ( relatively speaking) it uses a t harness and intercepts the display going to the radio face. It's activated by holding down the back button. It also offers side camera inputs. I don't want to name drop right now. Once I feel that the system will work flawlessly, I will. They are still working out some Kinks.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.
