I thought about posting there. It’s just going to look like sour grapes. Steve said it ‘could not’ be the tune. So unless it happens again in the stock mode, I’ll just take my medicine and assume the risk of effing with modern and very sophisticated ECM’s by email.
Again, a calculated risk. Thanks for your input, QC.

No worries I wish I could have been of more help but this is a very unique occurrence for sure. I even searched around last night to see if this has happened with other cars and found nothing on the web.

Well at least if you run on the stock tune for a while if there is an actual gremlin in the car it will likely rear its head sooner than later. It is truly a very bizarre issue.

I would recheck software ensuring the current versions are being used for the SCTX4 and program software. Seen stuff like this before because of missing updates...

Good point but I was told not to update the software after getting my custom tunes. And it can affect going back to stock as well though I believe if you return to stock first then do the updates it should be okay. I've even seen warnings to that effect in the SCTX4 software recently so I just ignored the offer to upgrade. It might be worth a phone call to SCT Support mind you too.

I cant imagine who would say such a thing, yes return to stock and upgrade to most current software for the SCTX4 and also your livewire software. Then upload your stock file and continue with logging and tuning.

I’m back to stock now. Good time to load new scanner SW? And will that require a new tune to match the new SW version??

Or maybe it was I didn't need to or something like that. Its been a few years. Anyways I have loaded tunes, returned to stock etc. without ever updating the software and never had an issue. I was of the understanding the updates were basically just new canned tunes for specific cars? I can't imagine what a software update would do for loading or returning to stock with essentially the same tune files?

I think as long as you have returned to stock you can update software mind you I have never done that or seemingly needed to so I'm not positive on that either. All I ever did was update the software to the newest version when I first got my tuner device and then uploaded my stock tune for the first time after that. Installed the Custom tune it once I received it back. I can't remember what I did when I changed PC's come to think of it now LOL. I am on a different PC since the car was initially tuned though.

The last time I used the software ( a few months ago) to program a tune it warned me not to update the SCT software unless I had returned to stock so I just skipped the update & carried on. I just loaded the 94 octane tune over the 91 & soldiered on. All seems fine AFAIK.

I’m traveling out of town all week and until I get back and can drive mine more, I think I’m stuck in the stock, don’t F with it, state. After a lot of research through old threads on this forum, it appears that there is no such thing as an “undetectable tune” so I’m crossing my fingers that the tranny behaves.

Clear all the learned crap..

Then load trans tune.

Think it's under adaptives in HP tuners?

Been a while since I looked at it.

That would not have cured the problem.

I want to wrap this up and give DynoSteve some props as well. As the thread title alludes to, I had a trans issue some period of time after a tune. This implied there was a correlation. Based on my limited knowledge of a modern auto-trans, I couldn't make that call. So I called Steve. When I described the symptoms to him, he immediately said, "it's a pressure or fluid flow issue, not computer." It sure seemed like electronic issues to me. Paddles not working in one mode and the other, weird down/upshifts.

Long story short, a reputable shop diagnosed it was indeed a "major fluid component" of the trans. Back to normal now.
