Burnout probs on DR's???
Anyone else have a hard time doing a burnout on DR's? If I don't pick up some water right before my stand-still attempt, my car simply stalls after I try to press the brake lightly. Its only ocassionally at the track when this happens and I've always wondered why... I turn off everything for the burnout portion and the launch portion of the pass and when I got my tune, I asked for them to take off that Torque Management bs but for some odd reason it still does it.. especially on the street. It does it EVERY time in the street whether I have DR's or street tires!!
Am I doing something wrong or what? I usually rev up my car up to like 4k, dump the clutch (not too hard), let it go forward a little then press the brakes slightly until it just stays there burning out. Idk if anyone else has this problem or if it's just me sucking at driving but I would like to hear some feedback from my c5 fam

Which tires are you running? You might just be sticking and that's a good thing.

If you've got a manual transmission, you don't have torque management. That's only on the autos, to the best of my knowledge.
Get a line-lock - that's the easiest way to make sure you do a good burnout. |

Running 555r's currently and I've never been able to go a stand still on the street with those. & sometimes I struggle at the track but If I pass they the water, i can do it just fine. I usually heat up my tires for a good 10-15 seconds and when I try to launch I just spin all of first... (22psi)

Time for a line lock. I just went to the track with a line lock and a set of 18" drag radials yesterday. That's the way to go.

I had this SAME problem, and had to learn the hard way.
I stalled my car in the burn box atleast 6-7 times before I realized my tires have to be really wet. I have 305/45/18 MT ET Streets, so what I started doing, is making sure a buddy, or the burn box guy sprays lots of water before I run. If you have to ask him to, make sure you ask him, otherwise they will treat you like everyone else does. Other than that, just rev it up to about 4k or so, and once you dump it, let the tires spin for just a half second, and then hit the brake.

If it is hot and windy and the track attendant is not keeping the box watered down I can stall my car with the line lock on and dumping the clutch. If I heat the tires well (3-5 seconds) and keep them at 17 psi it will not spin at all in first gear. That is with 835whp on M&H drag radials. It will run 1.5 60ft times all day.
