Even though the Trofeo Rs are 80 TW tires, they are the stock tire from the factory (OE). SCCA classes the stock Gen5 Z-28 as A-Street
(p. 144, https://dk1xgl0d43mu1.cloudfront.net...pdf?1513374666).

However, according to 13.3.C.1 (p. 64), "Any tire that is OE on a car eligible for Street Category may be used on that car in Regional Solo events. OE tires must meet all requirements of Section 13.3 to be eligible for National Solo events." Among other things, section 13.3 states "Minimum UTQG Treadwear Grade of 200".

So, the Trofeos shouldn't be an issue for local (SCCA regions) events, but wouldn't be allowed for National Solo events.

DavidCorsaro may be able to provide personal experience on Z28 in National Solo events.

Thanks for your help!
That car has 1,000 miles on it.
-Yes, engine covers are missing but are cheap to replace ~$100-200 on here. You couldn't race the car with them on anyways without ruining them, the red stickers peel off.
-Those wheels on that car are Forgelines... $6000 set of wheels... you can either embrace the wheels are your race set (same as IMSA Z/28.R cars used) and get a factory set for street use. Or just sell them and get 2 sets of factory wheels and tires.

This guy wants Forgeline wheels

Does anybody else have a red car they could post up photos of the trunk. The red paint in the wheel wells is very inconsistent. In my gray car paint is insistently applied throughout the trunk Just seems odd that it has a brown hue on the forward portion of the wheel wells.

I believe the owner of 21st Century Muscle Cars, John Page, may be selling his black Z/28. Contact # 972-417-7177. Ask for Matt, if John is not available.

My observations while at their shop today:

1. Paint is nearly flawless Car was wrapped but now off.

2. Stock wheels look factory fresh, so I'm assuming John had them refinished. They look damn good. I think he ran a set of Forgeline wheels the majority of the time.

3. According to one of the techs, it's a no A/C car and has 3,XXX miles.

4. Has wicker bill.

5. Brand new tires, I believe Bridgestone Potenza RE 71R's.

Thanks to all of you for helping me find a Z/28.

I picked up a red one last week, the one for sale at Chicago Motor Cars.

It is in very nice original condition except for the Forgeline wheels.

I will be replacing them with stock wheels as soon as I find a set.

The car is all I hoped and expected it would be, just what I like in a performance car.

I am looking forward to having great time with the Z/28.

The thing that attracted me to the Z/28 is that is more like a 1LE car than the current 1LE option cars. Originally, the 1LE RPO was a delete option that eliminated comfort and convenience features, and added upgrades to the suspension, brakes and powertrain. It was released to make the F-body GM cars more competitive in SCCA showroom stock racing.

The current 1LE adds performance improvements, but doesn't eliminate any comfort or convenience items.

I have always been attracted to low-option factory race-prepped cars. I have a 1963 Pontiac Catalina 421-SD car. It is a factory aluminum sheet metal car built exclusively for drag racing with a Dual 4 barrel intake and 4-speed transmission.

I also have a 1973 Pontiac Trans Am SD-455 4-speed, one of only 72 built. It is restored to factory original condition, and is a low option car.

And I have a collection of 1LE cars, a 1988 Trans Am 1LE (1 of 3 built), a 1998 Formula WS6 1LE (1 of 14 built), a 1999 Formula WS6 1LE (it was a magazine test car, and one of only 20 built).

The 1988 Trans Am is an extremely good handling and forgiving car. I have had a lot of fun autocross racing with it.

I am looking forward to having great time with the Z/28.

Congrats on the pick up man!
