Any chance that it might be a warranty issue? Seems to me that it might still be covered under the powertrain warranty? Any chance U.S. and Canadian warranties would mean that any issues would have to be referred back to the country of origin?

I really would not think so as all chevy dealers are supposed to do warranty work on any chevy car if brought in. I know someone will say that is not true but it is. Besides my car has no warranty left on it now that I know of. If there is someone please advise me on that. It is a 15 model and I think it is 3 years 36 thousand miles which means it is out now. I think.

Damn! I must be a fool according to SquawkVFR! Bought a 2014 Redhot ZL1 used with 8400 emmaculate miles from a 70 year old man for $35,000. Damn I'm stupid! Should've paid $30,000 more for the new one.

Don’t be obtuse. Obviously there are exceptions for every category. You know exactly what I mean.

Ok..I’ll apologize for calling used buyers fools..I’m not above that... but my point is quite valid. I know quite a few ZL1 owners...I wouldn’t touch those cars with ten foot pole at any price. And I’ve seen a few traded in for 6th gens ZL1s, and the like, and those get scooped up off the lot..and I feel absolutely sorry for the buyers.

I’m not jacking this guys post, I’m pointing out the dealerships might just have a hard time moving the “older” ZL1’s. Just a theory. Also not the first time I heard of people getting pissed about dealership lowball trade in offer on a ZL. I can’t find the posts...it’s here somewhere...

Thanks for the laughs, although I (and possibly my fellow obtuse fools) would say that ANY used car falls under the category of "buyer beware."

Just because it's used doesn't mean it's been a track car all its life. Even if it has been a track-only car, why does that really matter? The drivetrain in a 5th-gen ZL1 is more stout than anything ever put in a GM car in my opinion.

Like anything in life, it's a personal decision, and everyone has their own take on things. For me, if I got a good deal on a car that looked like it had a rough life, I'd be fine with that. If the motor popped, I'd just build it back better. No biggie. If I was looking for a trailer queen show car, then I'd buy a different car for sure. But I think it's silly to write off all ZL1's on dealer lots in one broad stroke. That seems a little obtuse to me.

Well if anything is learned from this thread on the responses made it is one thing, the word obtuse. I am 66 years old and I swear I never heard that word in my life till now. I guess I must not hang with the educated crowd. O wait, I do to. It is on this ZL1 website!
