07 black mustang detail.
Hey everyone I thought I would share my latest detail with you guys! This man bought a used 07 mustang two years ago. He said it alright had ample scratches in the paint and that a tree branch had fallen on the drivers side(one of the deep scratches from it will be seen in one of my pictures). They no doubt needed to be wet sanded, but he elected not to do that. Sadly I got done with this detail after the sun had set so I have no "golden hour" photos of the car except the one he sent me. Which is of poor quality. I will throw it up anyway but it's not an accurate representation of how this car looks. I will get much better pictures of his car when I go back to help him develop good wash habits.
So guys, let me tell you, this paint was pretty damn bad by my standards. This car was sandpaper before I clayed it. I've never clayed a worse car in my life. I think this is because he said it has been parked under trees and outside until 6 months ago. The paint was pretty bad as well in my book. He had severe swirls and scratches throughout the entire car. Thankfully this was only an exterior detail, because the inside was trashed as well. This detail took a lot of work! But I hope you guys enjoy reading. Process used: Two bucket wash with grit guards. And a 3rd bucket for the wheels. I used Adams car shampoo. 2 merino wool mitts. One for the top half and one for the bottom. Wheel whoolie and boars hair brush was used for the wheels and a tire brush for the tires (obviously ) Ironx for iron removal Clayed with mothers clay bars(took two full clay bars in pieces because this car was SO contaminated) and ONR dilution for lube. Polished with PC7424xp, microfiber cutting pad, and menzerna FG400. Yet again I am beyond impressed with this compound. Even using a microfiber fad, it didn't require a polishing at all. Although some areas (like the trunk lid/ roof/ hood) required two passes to get to perfection it still never ceased to amaze me. It was then coated with meguires #26 carnauba paste wax by hand and then hand removed. He didn't want me to put sealant on it(I guess for less time and money even though I recommended it). Poorboys natural look was applied and buffed with a micro fiber on the trim, and three coats were put on the tires for a shinier look upon his request. His wheels were coated with the paste wax as well. I think this was a completely dramatic transformation. Here is the bad quality picture he sent me.

Trunk lid before, notice the very deep scratches caused by the tree limb.

Trunk lid after. Notice that the scratches form the tree limb have drastically reduced but are still there.

Roof with the very helpful bulb light in focus. These things were great for seeing the terrible swirls. Also notice the wax that has stained the trim. If anyone knows a great way to get that out after it has been baked on for who knows how long please feel free to tell me lol. The trim had not been dressed in this picture.

Good job and nice recovery. I've used most of the products you have used. Iron-X and menzerna FG400 are amazing.

I haven't had that experience, and I don't use gloves.

I always wear gloves while using it so I can't say that's happened to me.
You don't wear gloves while using it? You are more of a man than me lol.

Although I think I remember touching my face while doing the Iron-X and that was really weird.

Nice work. APC and a lot of work with a tooth brush for the wax on the trim. The car, looks beautiful I can't believe how go this came out with only a one step polish.

I continue to be completely impressed with the FG400. It is just amazing. I'll never go to any job without it again. And I tried full strength APC on the trim. Maybe I'll try a Meduim or Hard bristled brush next time instead of an old soft one.
