I was able to get some paint work done with the short winter break we had. Unfortunately the winter break was to short and a snow storm came in yesterday slowing down the progress. Waiting on paint work, a few hose clamps, catch can and some other miscellaneous stuff so I can finish up.

Some paint work started on the strut bar and throttle body. Mostly everything is still in primer stage. Wet sanding and few coats to go, then clear coating. Since the drop in temp and paint is now on hold, I put the parts on to see what I was working with. I decided that the new manifold cover just felt too plain so I tried the old factory cover emblem and found it to give it the right look. I then recessed the emblem. I'll have to get a pic of the recessed emblem and painted cover. In this picture I was toying with the idea. Then end goal for looks will be black, Red and brushed nickel look, so the unfinished aluminum parts and chrome parts will still need to be done.

Going to paint the valve covers? Could paint them red, which would contrast good with the black manifold cover.

That's a painful subject in our house right now because I was under the impression we were painting the valve covers red..LOL until the boss lady told me she wants the valve covers to have brushed aluminum finish

So the painful work is ahead on those. I did tell her she is helping with that work since its just a matter of hours of sanding. I have to agree that the extra work will be worth it in the end, but is going to suck sanding them to achieve the brushed look.

Here's the cover cut out in the cover for the inlay of the badge to sit slightly below the surface of the cover. The cover only has one coat of paint in the photo and still needs wet sanding, 2 coats of paint and then clear coating.

I was finally able to get the upper and lower radiator hose clamps on and the black hose clamps on the air intake tube.

New badge arrived and fits nice to the recessed cut out in the cover. Will paint it red later on.

Catch can and clean side separator rough in started. Gonna do a little mod on the connectors from the cold air intake tube to the clean side separator so it's a clean line from one to the other.

I'm happy with the location and way I was able to rough in the catch can. The lines will be a breeze on the set up.

We started the car the other day and everything is working perfectly with no issues on the work so far. Now it's time to pull it all apart one last time so i can do a brushed aluminum look on the valve covers. Here's a sample after I was messing around with what works to achieve the brushed look.
