Yes Sir, it was a fun ride all right!

With that 143 mph, if I ever do hit a take-off AND my shifts, then no telling what the 9.X time slip would be (even with the limiter it), however I am finding it is much easier said that done with a manual.

And yes, it leaves me wondering what an extra 125 hp would do to make up for my lousy take-off's
BOOYA!

Don't sell yourself short Foot, you are never too old, perhaps it has just been a while since you have been dating with that kinda lady! You just gotta get back in the flow of the saddle!!

Few more dates and you will get that confidence back !!

You are the man, we will be staying tuned.

Good for him Is he Street Registered??

I drove mine to the track and would have driven it home except for mechanical difficulty, lol.

He does drive it, but the question is if he was still on the stock bottom end? He rebuilt the engine somewhat recently.

Well, the M6 fast list is "anything goes" (Street Registered) so shame on him for not turning it in

Got to hand it to him . . . it was a nice run! Im not done yet, though but beating 9.61 is gonna be tough.

It has been a while (haven't posted since 11/19/2018) so I suppose an update is in order. The shop made all of the repairs from the last belt incident back in Nov-2018 and we pulled the F-1X suction limiter so I could get a feel for the extra power on the street before I take it back to the track. Unfortunately, now I pretty much blow through 1st and 2nd gears due to spinning and finally in 3rd it bites and takes off, but man does it ever take off!! If I was going to street race then I would put the suction limiter back in because it responds to the 925 HP on the street much better than the 1050 HP (until I hit 3rd).

Fast forward to March 13, 2019 . . . I still haven't been back to the track to make some runs with the limiter out, but I am mulling it over. A friend of mine came down from Tennessee and wanted a ride so out we go. I pound 3rd and it bites so I ride it out to red line and right as I shift to 4th I noticed the power fell off so I let off and look in the rear view mirror to see a huge plume of white/blue smoke pouring out the back. I slowed down and the engine seemed to be running fine but the smoke was still belching out the back so I saw a good place to pull over and did. We popped the hood and the entire engine bay was covered with fluid, which we thought was brake fluid but turns out it was transmission fluid. The ProCharger belt had split almost in two horizontally making it half as wide a usual, but the problem with this type of failure is that instead of just breaking in two which would typically limit any damage, the shredded part of the belt kept whipping around since the good part of the belt was still attached. It found a small transmission cooler line to the bottom of the radiator and sliced it in two. All of the smoke I was seeing out the back was transmission fluid being vaporized on the right side header.

I finally got the Camaro back to G-Force Motorsports and they got it all put back whole again. They made a decision to "hot loop" the transmission cooler line back into the transmission instead of sending it through the radiator with the thinking that the manual doesn't need the cooler. Guess we will see.

One other change made which I am hoping will really help is that one idler pulley on the ProCharger belt loop that did not have deep lips front and back was changed out with an idler pulley with deep lips on the front and back. I hope this will keep the belt tracking properly at all times.

Following repairs I sent the car to my detail guy and he had to clean the bay 4 times before getting all of the transmission fluid off, plus it was all under the right side of the car too. What a mess! Hopefully we nipped that from ever happening again.

Now the Camaro is at Demondtrond Chevy to have two small hood pops fixed and a couple of small dings here and there repaired, then I am back in business again hopefully by next week.

I am hesitant to consider a 10 or 12 rib set up for a couple of reasons:

1. It would put more strain on the stock crank
2. I love the whine of the cog drive - And so do does everyone else!!

If/when I make it back to the track I will let you know how it goes. I was told that my trap speed of 143 mph, with a decent take off in the 1.40 range I should be in the 9.65 - 9.85 ET range by those that know a lot more about track stuff than me.

Well, that could have turned out really bad. Glad to hear it was only minor damage and a lot of clean up. You need to get that thing on the track before it gets to hot.

I went through all this shit with mine too. ( DIY LS setup years ago ) I had belts strip and eat wiring...causing a short which almost led to a fire.

Initially I then re-routed everything at risk away from the belt path, or shielded it etc. Although you just never knew when it would eat a belt.

I will still say a good 12 rib setup with a damn strong spring tensioner is the way to go. I did finally get mine working superbly with this...but by that stage I'd already made the decision to go turbo.

But I struggled ( and had a lot of success too ) with various ribbed setups and manual tensioners, crank braces etc etc then I tried cogs, then back to ribbed...but only at the end was I able to get a tensioner setup ( and bracket adjustments ) I was happy with. And it did work faultlessly and no need to apply huge tension to the belt, as I always did with the manual tensioner.

Or if you were to go nuts with custom stuff.....a 50m cog is closer to a 14 rib in terms of width. Although belts will get harder to source for a 14 rib.
Still not sure how reliable a pair of belts would or could be...ie a pair of 7 ribs which may be easier to source.
