How many of these LS7 are there then. I keep seeing limited and they will no longer be produced since the Corvette will no longer use it.

I wish GM would release something regarding what kind of Camaro this will be used in. Part of me is wanting to wait for this oppose to the 1LE that I will be buying here come Wed. Perfect timing, :(

No one wanted a Z28 more than I, but my ZL1 gave me more than I ever hoped for and ultragrin is a permanent ailment while driving my car. I am 100% sure that you will have the same affliction.

Its an eco-boast type engine, not a high-performance (such as GTR) type engine.
Boost would only be a few pounds to minimize the fuel economy penalty over a naturally aspirated V6.

Not going to happen. GM tried boosting the LS7 when they were doing development on what would become the LS9. It couldn't meet their durability tests (something about engines blowing up durring testing).

GM should have the capacity to build thousands of LS7s. I think I heard that the capacity of Wixom is something like 12,000 units. Currently, that includes LS7s, LS9s, and handbuilt LS3s for the Grand Sport -as well as some crate engines and I'm not sure what else. Since most, if not all, Corvette related production will be going away for the 2014 MY, there will be a lot of potential at the plant (there has been for a while now but thats beside the point).

From the looks of things, its possibly going to be part of one of the existing trims as there were no new trims listed in the VIN form.

Yeah, this is definitely not a finished list. The truck VINs are missing the '14 Sierra/Silverado and SUVs as a whole.

Plus I had downloaded the '13MY to decode the VIN for our new Terrain and that list was on its 6th revision.

Edit: Now that I'm looking through it, it's also missing the Regal, LaCrosse, Corvette, and SS.

It isn't a capacity or profitability issue that restricts the sale of the LS7 in an OEM vehicle. It is the EPA

Nice! This means a lot of 2010-2013 V8 owners will be selling their cars a bit more cheap then usual. Just in time for when I'm ready to buy my used Camaro.

I wish! But my budget will only be around 25-30k. Although by then, I am hoping that some V8 owners are selling their Camaros for less th 25k.

I am pretty sure I am not the only person who doesn't know much about the LS engines, so I went ahead and researched it, hopefully someone learns something.

As far as I know the 2010-2013 use the LS3(manual) or L99(automatic):

Introduced on the 2008 Corvette, the LS3 brought LS base performance to an unprecedented level: 430 horsepower from 6.2L (376 cu in) - making it the most powerful base Corvette engine in history. The LS3 block not only has larger bores than the LS2, but a strengthened casting to support more powerful 6.2L engines, including the LS9 supercharged engine of the Corvette ZR1. The LS3 is offered in the Pontiac G8 GXP and is also the standard V-8 engine in the new, 2010 Camaro SS. The L99 version is equipped with GM's fuel-saving Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation system and is standard on 2010 Camaro SS models equipped with an automatic transmission.

From what I understand, the LS4 is slower.

There is no LS5.

LS6 is similar to the LS1, which is older than the LS3, L99, LS4 and LS7.

LS7 is the largest engine Chevrolet has (I believe) and its the one that is being mentioned here:
A legend in its own time. The LS7 is the standard engine in the Corvette Z06 and its 7.0L displacement (427 cubic inches) makes it the largest LS engine offered in a production car. Unlike LS1/LS6, LS2 and LS3 engines, the LS7 uses a Siamese-bore cylinder block design - required for its big, 4.125-inch bores. Competition-proven heads and lightweight components, such as titanium rods and intake valves, make the LS7 a street-tuned racing engine, with 505 horsepower. LS7 engines are built by hand at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, Mich.

The LS9 is the monster used on the ZR1.
