Ice-olator Install = Bad ECM & 4 injectors???

Is this at all possible or is it a coincidence? I installed my ice-olator within 20 minutes the engine starts misfiring with a CEL. I check the code and shows the Electronic Control Module is bad. I take it to the dealer with the ice-olator still installed as I'm thinking a manifold spacer cannot made a ECM go bad. The dealer replaces the ECM, test and tell me now two injectors are bad. They replace those, test and say one more is bad. Replace injector, test to say one more went bad. I said damn can't you replace them all to get it over with? They wouldn't do it. My LLT is at 94,0000 miles. Is this normal life expectancy of the ECM and injectors? I'm anticipating the last two injectors to go now. I just refuse to believe a composite manifold spacer could cause all this. Enlighten me please.

You could remove the iceolator and see if the issue is there. I doubt it caused it.

Did you use RTV/gasket maker for the second gasket or an OEM gasket?

We used a minimal amount of RTV/gasket maker to make sure no excess got into the passages. RTV can't get into the injectors thru the intake right? Nor would it cause the Electronic Control Module to go bad. I'm at a loss as to the timing of all this.

To the previous comment, the work is already done so removing the Ice-olator at this point would not do anything for us.

OK, Here's my ICOLATOR story. I've had mine for a few years. I used RTV for the second gasket, as recommended. A couple years after install I started getting random misfire codes, and couldn't figure it out. I have a HYPERTECH tuner, so I just cleared the codes and drove on. Over the Winter I was driving down a hill and the coolant temp. dropped the 170, boom, misfires, pulled over checked the codes, all 6 cylinders misfired. Long story short, the RTV failed and was allowing unmetered air into the motor causing misfires. I bought the longer bolts and another OEM gasket. I haven't had a problem since. Get yourself an OBD2 scanner tool so you can read and clear the codes. If you take it to the dealer every time you get a CEL you're going to go broke, because they read the codes and replace that part.

Good to know. I was looking into an Ice-olator and had some mixed feelings about it. Some say you don't need to use the longer bolts and other say you do.

Check for vacuum leaks. Also check the carbon on the intake valves. My LLT had bad build up at 40k and was causing the valves to not seat and giving a misfire and no power. My tune was done by Trifecta. They recommend spark plug change every 15-20k.

Misfiring is rearing it's ugly head again. I'm going to get the second gasket and longer bolts. Can anyone give me the specs on the various longer bolts and the location they will go?

Stock bolts in the main 4 holes are the longest at 130mm. The off center 5th bolt in front is a bit shorter at 120mm.
The most secure way to go would be four 140mm bolts (Iceolator is 1/2" which equals 12.5mm) and use one of the stock 130's in the off-center front hole.

All these bolts normally thread in about a full inch (25mm), so this gets you back close to stock thread depth.

I'm pretty sure this what you want, but let me check when I get home to confirm- https://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_hex..._x_1.25mm.aspx
