Neat tip for you radar detector users!
My 2007 Impala SS had multiple cigarette lighter points, one which was in a convenient location because of the fact I could run my radar cord to it with out the cord rubbing on the radio screen. So I had that going for me...
With the camaro, I found that the only location(to the right of the TC button) wasn't the ideal place for the purpose I needed it for, because the cord would rub all over the screen, and would leave scuffs on it which were a PITA to get off... So my fix... I took a little plastic clamp with a flat bottom ( I pulled the one I used off the bottom of a fold up table in Wal-Mart ) and with some double sided tape, mounted it just to the right of the screen. I then slipped the cord in there, and it hasn't moved since! After a dyno run, I picked up 5whp. Who knew!

Nice! I personally went more permanent. Got the sun visor mount with the mirror tap cord. But if I wanted to take it to another vehicle it was easy just slide off the bracket and use coil cord for other vehicle!

I went permanent as well. Mine is hardwired underneath the headliner to the drivers side a-beam, down to the fuse panel accessible by the drivers door.

Cool idea. I went with the cleaner, more permanent solution also. Hard wired into switched power near the dome light so it still turns on and off with the ignition.

Nice idea.. I probably would have put a screen protector on the radio face first (if you didn't already), that way you could always remove the whole she-bang whenever you wanted to.

Mine is mounted similar to yours and ran the wires in a similar way, I put my on off switch on the base of my shifter for easy access without having to reach for anything. |

I could never in a million years look at a wire dangle like that.
I have my radar on the mirror with a blend mount as hard wired to the side fuse panel. With the smartcord notification on the steering wheel. Sent from my 2SS/RS Last edited by nyrfan; 10-13-2013 at 08:52 PM. |

Definitely the best spot for the detector to see out the rear window. I thought about locating mine there but couldn't stand to lose the windshield real estate so I opted for next to the mirror; next best place in my opinion.

My Valentine One is mounted on the drivers sun visor (they are useless for blocking the sun anyways). The phone cord lays on top of the visor and then down behind the A piller to below the dash. It plugs into my Dashtronix radar projector which is plugged into the OBD2 port. The V1 turns on and off with the ignition. With this setup I keep the V1 display turned off (stealth mode) and all radar hits are displayed on my HUD right in front of my eyes. Up arrow if the radar is in front of me, down arrow if it is behind. Doesn't get much better than that.

I'm using the visor mount, but sits forward just enough I can still Fold my visor down and it doesn't take any view from under the mirror away. I bought blend mount aswell and found I like the visor mount best.
