LED headlights
I love the 6GEN Camaro !! especially with those wicked cool LED trim lights around the Bi-Xenon headlights. Why did Chevy stick with the HID Bi-Xenon projector beams rather than LED headlights ??

Yeah Bi-Xenon is still brighter and really the upgrade isn't THAT much of an upgrade when we're talking about headlights. There's only so much straight ahead light we can have in each passenger vehicle before it becomes too blinding / dazzling for oncoming traffic. What will really take the place of HIDs are Laser-type lights that can adjust for the different shapes of vehicles and road conditions. Actually what could trump all of this is nightvision or IR vision eliminating the need to project light forward.
What I would hope is that incandescent lights would be phased out sooner than they have been but there must be a huge supply of them and the cost must still be worth it to the auto makers. |

My 2010 Camaro with HID headlights never went out. Had about 120,000 miles on the car. I love HID!

you can now buy aftermarket LEDs bulbs for the headlights, pretty sure they will make some for the 2016 camaro soon.
HIDs are brighter than LEDs and cheaper, but they get hot and have more glare. LEDs are smaller, run cooler and get to thier top brightness faster than HIDS. LEDs can also bend light beam for on coming traffic(like laser lights) only if you have alot like acura's new "jewel eyes" or bmw and audi's new led headlights(expensive). fords LEDs do not do this and they have even made fun of acura for having too many LEDs. |

My wife's Acura RDX has those jewel lights. I didn't really like them at first but it's grown on me. They are pretty bright.

LED tech is still more costly than projectors. The premium lines drive development and cover cost of R&D. Then the tech makes it into lower cost brands.

[QUOTE=SSport16;8881141]There are very few cars with LED headlights, the Escalade is one of the only American cars that has them, the new XT5 is going to have them as an option. HID lights are very good and have come a long way, they last a very long time and are a lot cheaper than LED headlights right now. LEDs need reflectors in the projectors since they do not produce a lot of power, like. HID bulb.[/QUO
My 2016 Silverado has LED headlights lights. The F150 have available LED lights too. I'm sure in the next few years the camaro will switch the LED lights and most manufacturers will follow.
