How long was the QC for the first batch of 5th Gens? I would think the ZL1 QC would be shorter than that?

Why is the plant closing down on 27 Feb 2012, do they close for a week each month?

I think its for inspections, or to get ready to start building a new product. I know they are building the ATS Caddy there.

Think about all that money sitting in a parking lot in Oshawa. GM is paying the interest on the value of for all the ZL1's in "QC" and so all attempts would be made to get them shipped allowing them to invoice the dealerships. Since money drives everything the decision to ship is going to be made depending on what is least expensive to GM (recalls vs early shipment). Does anyone know what kind of QC is being done on a sea of ZL1s parked bumper to bumper in a parking lot? It has got to be minimal.

As with any mass produced product I expect that the initially produced ZL1s will undergo extensive and thorough QC inspection which can be quite time consuming. Extensive QC inspection on early production units is standard procedure for a new product introduction. It would not be good business practice for GM to release ZL1s before they have been thoroughly examined for any Quality issues. Based on current available information, I think that one should expect the initial deliveries of ZL1s to begin arriving at dealerships in mid-March.

Wow. I can't believe there is someone on here that thinks the same way I do about this QC thing. What a bunch of crap. They have 300 cars built and have had 3 weeks to "QC" them, and not 1 has shipped. Who cares about the marketing guys that said late 1st quarter at your dealer. Get them there ASAP. Maybe for once GM can be ahead of themselves and get us ZL1 buyers on the ROAD and driving these babies..

GM would also be paying extra on the costs of shutting down the shipping yard and warehousing the ZL1's there; all in the effort the ship a perfect product to a difficult customer. Our customer is an automotive enthusiast and demands perfection in the product. These aren't Prius'.

A super car that will go toe-to-toe with 100K + dream machines, for 60K. QC is not minimal on Oshawa's bread and butter. The unauthorized photo's you saw were ZL1's that are ready to go. However until all possibilities of a quality spill or small imperfection are ruled out; your left waiting. So go grab a magazine; Automobile, road and track, car and driver, motor trend, its got the cover. This car is the greatest thing going right now so let GM do its thing and deliver the fastest, greatest Camaro ever built.

Given the discussion earlier in the year about the fragile nature of the tires and with the ZL1s sitting out there in cold weather for weeks... How will this affect the quality and integrity of the tires? There is a lot not adding up with this whole product line. If GM had any desire to connect with their customers they would have a spokes person address this forum from time-to-time to give us some real answers.
