V6 M6 confusion

Okay, like topic states, I'm a bit confused about the rear differential of my car. I understand that the automatic V6 cars have to have an SS rear end conversion done to use the SS gears, but am I correct in recalling that the manual V6s have the SS rear end, and can use the SS gears as such?

Thanks in advance.

Correct. Autos can only go up to 3.45 ratio or something like that without having to change the rear but the manual does not require it. I have read some very interesting threads on this subject. For more info ask RacnJsn95 or something like that he helped me a lot on my gear questions

The auto has the Richmond 3.55 gears, right? So in theory I could use the gears straight from an SS without doing an entire swap?

Edit: I'll just ask him, thanks though!

Yeah Richmond 3.55 is correct. A Regular SS Comes with 3.45. 1LE comes with 3.91.

If your car is a stick, you can use whatever gears you like from an SS/1LE, or even go aftermarket if you want something aside from 3.45, or the 3.91's... The v6 M6 as well as the v8 cars have an 8.6" ring gear.

The only aftermarket gear set available for the v6 automatic, which is a 7.6", is the Richmond 3.55s...
