Factory C.A.I.

Cold Air Induction
Just thinking out loud.....but with the addition of the air extractors to remove excess heat wouldn't it benefit from the cooler air in the engine compartment? does anyone think their should of been a factory installed CAI...would they of gained any additional HP....and doesn't the GT 500 come with factory CAI?

Well since the LSA in the Camaro ZL1 is making 580HP vs the CTS-V 556 due to changes in air intake design, I would assume GM did exactly that. I mean GM's air intake might not be "Cold" by definition of an open element air filter in the engine compartment, but I'm not expecting to see aftermarket CAI improve the ZL1 LSA by as much of a margin as the CTS-V LSA due to the factory improvements already there.

I read somewhere that the stock CAI box IS improved over the SS. So it has been addressed by the engineers so we don't have to worry about it.

As much as I would like to see a dressed up engine compartment, the only reason I'd alter the factory CAI is because of cosmetics. BUT ... I won't to it because ANY alterations could result in warranty denial. More cold air would change the factory specs. For minimal benefit, not risk I will take.
