Does the Chevy SS (sedan) have VVT?
Hey guys quick question, I have a 2011 SS automatic (L99) and my brother has a 2016 Chevy SS automatic (LS3). I was wondering does his motor have the VVT in it? I know our motors are similar but whats the difference? What the transmission too?

Correct me if I’m wrong guys, but I thought it was a LS3 so no VVT and a 6l80.

Yea I was under the impression, automatic or not, that it was an LS3.

Thanks guys, I was trying to figure this out. I still think VVT is a great system though.

The LS3 in the SS is the same motor that is in the M6 Camaro SS. No VVT

VVt doesn't have anything to do with the lifters in the L99, it's part of the AFM/DOD.

Those SS sedans are nice. I almost pulled the trigger on one before my 15 ss but the cost was just way to much for the performance compared to the ss or even a scat pack charger or challenger.
My butt dyno also felt that the ss sedan was slightly faster than my L99 when it was stock. Great sedan but I have to be honest if I wanted a big 4 door sedan for the money I would just get a charger rt for far less and call it a day. |
