Taxes have gone up everywhere from the sounds of it in both the US and Canada I just have huge issues with how it is happening in Ontario and to a lesser degree Canada. In the last 10 years Ont has been hit hard and the car hobby has a target on them, 50% of the cost of gas is tax 6$ a gallon or close to that right now, and then insurance I pay 4500$ a year for 3 cars and a truck it is the highest rate in North America

Michigan is no better. 370$ to register my Z/28, they based it off MSRP..which was 75k of course. Regardless of what I paid for the car..still get charged the MSRP price.

I'll pay the taxes for living in the USA each and every day!
No, we don't.

I am totally fine with dissing California, because you are wrong. Misguided. My home town, hell even home state (NOT Michigan) is no where near those costs. Last time I did it it was 60$, if memory serves. I hear it went up to a blistering 80$ on my little brothers truck. I about fell over when I went to register my Z/28 in Michigan..for 370$.

You can keep California, you can cry fake news all you would like..numbers dont lie.

However, as a previous poster pointed states will eventually get you somewhere. Yes Texas has property taxes and sales tax. But, i've done the numbers and my cost of living drops significantly by moving back to my home state of Texas from Michigan, so I am doing just that.

Madonna...let 'em go. Their biggest joy in life from now on will only be how miserable they thought they had it in California. I never cared if they were here, why care if they leave?...lol...A few tax dollars here or there, no big deal.

If you can't afford a few thou in taxes, your days are probably numbered no matter where you go. Good luck, and AMFs!

Lived here for 50 years, Like I said it's not for me anymore and my financial situation drastically improves when I leave the state. I'm not alone in this belief, but I do understand the attraction of Ca. I no longer believe you are getting what you pay for, and that is my opinion that will obviously be different than yours. I respect everyone that wants to stay it's an individual choice which is what makes this country great!

This info was taken from the Orange County Register and has been documented in numerous other publications. So I'm not alone in my thought process. Again for the younger crowd it's probably very desirable to live in Cali, I get that. but this dynamic is getting worse for Ca every year.

5. Retiree moves: Of folks moving to California via United Van, retirement was cited as the motivation by 9.6 percent vs. 20.7 percent of departing Californians who said they were relocating for retirement. That outmigration gap was ninth worst among the 48 contiguous states. Least popular? Rhode Island. Biggest draw? Florida.

6. Silver selections: Just to be sure, I checked movement among the 65-plus crowd via United: That demographic represented 20.7 percent of moves to California but 26.2 percent of outbound relocations. That outmigration gap was sixth worst among the states. Worst? Rhode Island. Best? Vermont.

To my eye, the two studies indeed do add up. The California lifestyle that Wallethub liked on paper isn’t worth it to United Van’s older customers when the bills come due. And that conclusion is probably true for a good-sized slice of the state’s population.

This makes me love Kentucky even more. I paid $0 in sales tax for my Camaro due to the military waiver.

When California breaks off and becomes an island and all that's left is the middle portion of the state, it will be a nice place and visit.
