thats somting GM has always lacked.

proven performance options.

-4:11 gears
-staged suspension options
-better suited wheel and tire combo's
-factory SC options (like ford) and others.

$4.00+ gas will put an end to the current muscle car wars in a hurry (like what happened in '73). Until then... enjoy it.

This is awesome! However, folks there may be a few problems with your solutions. A gearing change would likely result in lower fuel economy all around. If it drops too low you will have to pay a GG tax. You have to pay to play.

My guess is a revised intake, tune and exhaust system.

Also, one thing about that C&D test? They tested another Mustang with the summer tires (not the "all season" tires) and it ran a 13.0 flat at 111. Basically they picked the slower time of the two. The Mustang simply has an advantage in most cases, lighter with just as much power to the wheels.

the LS series motors are always under-rated anyway..I'm going to say somewhere around 445hp for the 2012 SS and maybe an increase for the 2012 Camaro 3.6L..I'm not sure if the HP increase will be worth what the MSRP increase will be considering you can probably get just as much HP out your current SS by installing a CAI,exhaust and a Tune..dropping some weight is always good too..

the 2012 Z/28 will never get a 600HP S/C motor unless Chevy plans on selling them at around $70,000.. I'm thinking the 2012 Z/28 will be in the 500-515hp range priced around $55,000(nicely equipped)..that is if it really gets the Supercharged Motor..

cowl induction doesn't do much for a fuel injected engine. maybe you meant Ram Air?

What is everyone getting upset for? This is a car company that needs to make money ,and in order to do that, they need to sell a lot of cars. So they have to keep improving the product. Do you all guys that are upset really believe that they would never improve over what we all bought. They want all of us to trade our old ones in on the latest and greatest. It's just like the next tv or computer. They keep us buying because they know we're all suckers for the next best thing. Don't blame GM. They're just doing what they need to do to survive.

I hhave a very simple and effective solution to the problem.number 1, give the SS the 427 Z06 engine. Number 2 a body of carbonfiber.and 3.73 gears. end of story.

Hmm...17,000 dollar crate engine. 10,000 more than the LS3 engine. Add in 65,000 dollars of carbon fiber..

What could go wrong with a 120,000 dollar Camaro.

Maybe their also thinking about E85 everywhere also. If it does boost up octane as one post here says and if it is mandated as I have heard, hopefully not hurting our cars out there already they could tune and maybe boost timing from what it is now to more toward the old 34-36 degrees. Thats of course if that much timing would help or not in todays engines. Just a thought.

But in both the C&D and the R&T articles they used a Camaro with the EXACT same summer tires as the Mustang.. Not only that the Camaro was rolling on 20's, had a 300lb disadvantage, and was built by a company that took Taxpayer money. Yet it beat the Mustang in the 0-100, 0-130, the 1/4, and equaled it in the coveted but pointless 0-60 race.

For the LIFE OF ME... after driving the new GT.. I can not see why the media raves about the Mustang. It handles SLIGHTLY better, but that has a lot to do with the weight and smaller wheels
