The only tool that you need to remove the key from the fob is a small punch and small hammer to remove the roll pin, then the key is free from the fob.

Key Recall
Antone have pictures of their new replacement keys? Took mine in for a front air dam replacement, they mentioned the recall, but of course have to order everything. Was curious what this new key looks like, and if i even want to have my switchblade key replaced....

Thanks for the feedback, but what's the average turn around time?

IF they have the tool, you should be able to get in and have it done while you stand there. It's not that big of a deal to do. My dealership had to do so many of them, the "special tool" broke, and they're waiting on a new one.

On a car-fax someone just posted:
06/30/2014 General Motors Manufacturer Safety recall issued Recall #2014294 IGNITION KEY Locate an authorized General Motors dealer to obtain more information about this recall. Guess we're all going to have it. |

I just called GM direct, the customer rep I spoke to looked up the VIN and explained the exact codes I knew and expected to hear (noted below). He was reading out loud while he looked it up, said GM was producing the parts as they were ordered, sometimes taking a few weeks to deliver, but when I noted the few weeks quote, he quickly replied TBD. Basically didn't want quote anything or mis-inform.
Reason I'm hot on this topic is that I finally purchased my 'mid-life crisis' car, located at a dealer on the west coast. The day they punched the sale up in the computer, GM put a lock on the release. Recall has to be completed before released to me. I am in NY and have a transport on standby, we're waiting for the dealer to get the parts (which they also said, approx 3 weeks), but I am busting beyond belief and just want the car already. Something inside of me is telling me the cars gonna be there for a long time before this is completed, and I'm just another owner who needs to get in line and wait. You didn't search if you couldn't find anything by typing "recall".

You actually get better results if you go to Google and search "key recall camaro5".
