Before anyone else makes any quick decisions (not that I don't like vettes, Camaro5...GREAT choice!!!) hold off just a little bit longer to hear what the weight is really going to be FROM GM!!!!! The "estimates" you read about are just that...estimates!!! I

TAG UR IT is right, if even the resident alarmist is saying wait till Monday....I mean, well....WAIT TILL MONDAY!

With that said...

I think owning a 1 star crash saftey rating car would be awesome. Then when chicks see you in you're low-weight sports car you can say "Yeah it's the most bad-ass car around. Every time I go to a stop-light, theres a 1 in 4 chance I die." Then they think you're a bad boy, and that's that!
Not true friend, just cause it's light does not mean it has poor safety. Again, sorry for blowing the RX8 trumpet (I do own one and really like it) again but it gets 4-5 star and it comes in under 3000 to just a bit over so it's very possible to make it safe and light.

WITH that said, someone with a better handle of the Camaro history, can you tell me how the demensions over the years has changed for the Camaro? I know it's a larger car than my RX8 that is for sure (hopefully inside also) but IF...IF....AGAIN, IF MT was right with the weight can it be that the Camaro has grown too large?

Just wondering out loud before TAG UR IT bans me....lol.

So, yes. I think it should be a sticky.

If it weighs much more than a C5, rear seats would be the only reason anyone would buy a 5th Gen Camaro over a used C5 or C6.
I somewhat disagree. I want a 5th gen over a C5 because the C5 is wayyy too outdated. C5 just doesn't do anything for me. I have looked into used C6's and I can afford one, but that didn't fly too well with the wife since she would never be able to go cruising with me. (I got a toddler to tote around)

So....you're right in regards to C6. I disagree with C5.

So the SS Camaro is 3860 lb. with the Six-speed
and the SS Auto is 3913 lb.

So the Camaro got the Challenger by 292 lb.
??Anyone no the curb weight of the 2010 Mustang??

Thanks Tag - You guys are a class act!

I just wanted to say that I feel some heartache in regards to not buying a Camaro at launch. I may buy one a little later because I still love it.

Enjoy this great day of information, and enjoy your Camaros. We need more smiling in this country, and Chevrolet has succeeded in providing more smiles per mile.

Have you even looked at the Z06? You can STEAL an '07 now -- if you can deal with the whole "used" thing.....

Now is the best time to buy any Corvette except the ZR1.

I like ordering it with the exact options and colors I want.

The Z06 is an incredible car but, with the LS3 at 436hp, it's only down 69hp.

I test drove the LS3 coupe and WOW! I don't need any more power, never thought I'd say that. Controlled explosion!

If I ever want more, a simple tune, exhaust, intake will yield 500hp plus. Same thing for LS3 equipped Camaros.

Really disapointed

The car looks wonderfull. I dont beleive i have seen pics of the ss with the 20inch wheels which would make it even better. But 3860 pounds for the 6 speed ss are you joking? And i know it was going to come with a independant rear but i was wishing for a solid rear. If the weight would have come in at 3500 at had a solid rear i would have sold my cobra and bought 2. Now ill just keep my cobra and buy a 09 c6 maybe a used z06 if i can find a decent used one

If you're looking for an unsophisticated car with a 30 year old rear end...keep the Mustang I guess.

Oh and you're prospective Vette has IRS, you realize that, right?

Regarding weight.....

Did GM say that was a "dry weight?"

Or, was that with ... everything...??

I'm sorry, but that wasn't clear.

Maybe a question to ask?

Because it's something I would like to know.

yes i have worked on cars for almost 20 years. The thing about the vette is it weighs 3000-3200 pounds which is alot easier on a irs

Not sure how working on cars for 20 years validates your point.

well...I guess you can't quite have your cake and eat it too??

trust me, I'm not mechanic and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it true that within the last 30 years, Automotive Engineers have been able to figure out how to make big fast cars weigh less with different types of metal....??? perhaps??
