OK Camaro Experts. What difference does RS package make?

I semi hijacked a thread so I decided to ask on my own thread...Whats the difference in a SS and a SS with a RS package? I couldnt really tell a difference except in the head lights. For question #2 which is mine considered? Theres a SS on the grill and a V8 under the hood...lol Theres so many different versions I got lost...lol

Based on the photo you have an RS, so you have an SS/RS. Your SS badges should be red. A non-RS SS has white SS badges.

Non Rs car do not have the drip molding painted to mach the car, and the tail lights are not black on the inside, then all the SS emblems are white, and last if you don't buy the polished rims the RS car comes with Midnight Silver rims.

RS package includes midnight silver rims. Paint to match roof ditch molding, all darker red brake lights, spoiler if on a V6. already on the SS. Red SS badges and HID with Halo headlights.

There are only 2 models of the SS. LS3 manual or L99 Auto. Both models offer the RS appearance package. 2 trim levels. 1SS has cloth interior and a few less options. 2SS is loaded with leather and some more options.

I was going to say! I have a non RS 1SS and the SS color is based on 1SS or 2 SS I thought? I didn't think it had anything to do with the RS package?

1SS would also not have the HUD.

1SS would also not have the HUD.

Red SS = SS/RS
White SS = SS non RS

The red badge has nothing to do with 1SS or 2SS

I may have flubbed the complete answer to the OP's questions, but I know that SS color is based on RS or not.

LS, 1LT, 1SS - cloth
2LT, 2SS - leather heater seats, 4 pack guages, radio/phone controls on wheel, HUD, ambient lighting on the doors.

Only exterior ques to 1 LT/SS vs 2 LT/SS I know of is the 1 LT does not have the back up sensors... not sure about the 1SS. It may not either, cant recall that one.

SS - (besides the V8) has the mail slot front end and a slightly more agressive front facia and brembo brakes as exterior give-aways


RS package (available on 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, 2SS)
RED RS badges on V6 otherwise V6 has no badge
RED SS badge on SS with RS package otherwise WHITE SS badge
RS on V6 includes upgrade form 18" (or optional 19" wheels) to 20" Midnight silver painted wheels with Pirelli PZeros, spoiler, halos, color roof ditch and darker tail lights.
Since 20" wheels and the spoiler are standard on the SS, the RS package only changed the light silver painted wheels to Midnight silver and adds the halos, colored roof ditch and tail lamps.

There is nothing different inside on the RS.

New for 2012... IIRC the RS package will include a body colored shark fin antenna..

OK so gathering all the helpful info I should have a LS3 1SS/RS. Cause I do have the HID halo lights and Red SS badges and cloth seats but I dont have HUD/Leather/controls for radio and phone on the steering wheel/etc (Which is fine with me) and I have a six speed trans.

This got a bit confusing but I think I got it figured it out Thank you all for the help defining my car.

Careful... the AUTO is ALSO a 6 speed... but we know what you mean.... You row your own boat!

Look on the back... you have 4 dots on the bumper? Back up sensors.... not sure if the 1SS has them or not???
