Auto v6 to SS rear.

Ok guys! Starting to buy everything for this project. It is bigger than I thought it would be haha. Already got the differential, and SS axles.

I still need the hubs, and I was asking a forum member a few questions, but if anybody know the part numbers for them let me know!

I will be updating as I go and will be letting everybody know how the butt dyno feels. I'm going 4.10, hopefully it won't be too much :p.

While this is going on, should I take advantage of the install? I know a lot of people say diff bushings while I'm there.

Any input is much appreciated!

Thanks and I am happy to be back!
Matt

If you already have the ss diff out of the car might as well upgrade the diff bushings since it will be really easy. Don't forget you will also need the second half of the stock driveshaft.

Yeah, looking into that or getting a 1 piece.

Got the SS driveshaft, rear, and axles on the way. Just need to grab some hubs, diff bushings, and I think I should be good to go.

If you can't find the numbers for SS hubs I can try to find them tonight. Make sure you get new axle nuts also. 1LE nuts are different than SS nuts, which are different from V6 auto nuts.

Thanks for that tip! Yeah I found the SS ones on parts direct. $107 each it looked like. Also if you have the part numbers to the axle nuts that would help. You've been a big help!

It honestly depends. I'm going to ask a few local shops how much it would cost, but I would love to tackle this one myself. If they charge less than 500 I might pay them. The rear already has the 4.10 installed, so it should not be too hard for the install.

The ones I bought for SS Axles are 13217120. They won't fit 1LE axles though.

IMO, leave the differential bushings stock. They will introduce a lot of unnecessary NVH for little to no benefit. I typically only recommend them to high HP drag racers.

Best regards,

that would be a good project to tackle yourself if you have access to a garage, jack stands, and the tools needed to swap everything over.

I have had my rear cradle on the floor quite a few times.

Yeah, I think I might do it myself!

The diff already has 4.10, and bmr pro bushings in it. I got a deal that I could not refuse, and took a chance at it being too much gearing. I drive the car for fun, not 1/4 at a time.
