Where to get heads ported?

Where did you get your heads ported and how much did you spend?

Thanks, I'm looking at Katech since they are 499 for a pair. Any recommendations on hand ported vs cnc ported?

Cnc = .002 or two tenth of a thou accuracy where hand depends on the guys eyesight and how shaky his hands are. Pretty near impossible to match cnc accuracy on a port job.
unsure how accurate a port job needs to be , that’s the question.

You can't just blindly say all CNC machines are accurate to a certain number. And .002" is two thousandths, not two tenths of a thousandth. Two tenths of a thousandth is .0002".

GM cnc

You could buy a set of the GM performance cnc ported heads and then sell yours. Easiest way to get it done at a good price.

S'exactly what I did - got £250 for my take-off heads with 22k miles on them ( they were remarkably clean too)

sorry for the missed decimal, as for cnc being accurate to .0002“, the majority are....properly maintained equipment of course, even with beaten down machines parameter correction can still get you there.
any machine shop is buying a cnc for accuracy, not talking cutting 2x4’s with a 3 axis wood cutting machine.

True. I sold my L99's 823 heads for $550 last summer. You can fetch a little more for the LS3's 821 heads. I didn't buy heads though, I was just parting out my L99 to recoup for the new engine. I had them listed on Facebook Marketplace for like 3 days before they sold.

I like the solid stem valves on the 823, just get good springs for them.

Gwanty performance for me. (GPI) They sent me heads ported and ready to install with springs for my cam. Pulled mine and sent them back for the core.
