I believe it is a county maintained Paved road.... I pass it every time I go to Blow Sand (Ocotillo) or Glamis. I will make sure by next week... There is also the option to cut left at Hwy 79 and skip Borrego and head directly to Lake Henshaw. Takes about 40 mi. off the route.

Also if it is easier for the group we can make the main meeting spot in Ramona... this allows camaros to come from all over the county at about the same distance to start.

if ya dont mind checkin out that road, that would be great! looks like theres some nice twisty's through it from mapquest. i think romona would be perfect for everybody

The route is pavement all the way.... had a buddy of mine (Hay Hauler) check it out today... Probably should meet at the Starbucks in Ramona at 0800-0830, do a little meet and greet and start rolling @ 0900. I can re-post with specifics since it looks like several folks are good to go.

OK all of you So Cal Camaro Vigilantes: Now that the rains have ceased and our local Football teams are out... Myself and Petty Officer McAlister (on a previous thread-“San Diego Area”) have been working on a route that has winding mountain roads as well as High desert landscapes with starting points to get the most from a day’s drive in beautiful North San Diego & Imperial Counties. Here is the Route (Map link attached). Gather point is the Sizzler in Ramona @ the East end of Town meeting at 0915-0945, allowing the South bay, East and Central county folks to join in. we’ll do a meet and greet and then the trip will officially start from the Sizzler @ 0945. The game plan is to Stop in Santa Ysabel to pick up some Bread (Dudley’s bakery)…. Then drive through Julian to Banner grade…. Down to thru high desert to Borrego, (possible stop) up the Montezuma Grade thru Ranchita back over to Hwy79 then to hwy76 and stop at the Lake Henshaw Café then down the mountain past Palomar and onto the Pala Casino… the Temecula / Riverside folks they can depart from there… otherwise the remaining group will head south on I-15 into the sunset. Hope we hear back from you Camaro ‘Vigilantes” who just want to get out and Drive!.…. Mark your Calendar for 22 Jan 2011. This event is a go, unless crappy weather comes back! , I will update local weather in advance.

Man this looks like such a great drive. If this dude keeps trying to low ball me on price, i'll have to hold off on selling, go on this run, and put the car back on the market afterwards lol.

First gather point is the SEARS Parking lot of the mall facing the I-15 ( near BJ's brewhouse), 2nd stop is the Sizzler in Ramona.
