Exclamation

Oh, btw...the dealer left my tires at 41 pounds each cold.

What common pressure do most folks use for street and do you modify them for autocross?

Thanks for everyone's help; I'm such a nube with these new cars...d'oh!

I found it on their website:

That looks like the place. They were very friendly and had several old Porsches laying around. As far as tire pressure it says 36 psi on my door panel. I usually try to run around 37 psi. I do not change for AutoX. I suggest you do not either for at least the first few runs. Then you can decide at that point if it needs to be changed. While you are there talk to a few of the ' old timers' and see what they say. They are very helpful and will do their best to help you improve where it is needed. See you next week

I am debating on whether I want to quickly put 750 more miles on the car to get me to 1500 then change out my oil and diff fluid before auto cross or just do some slow runs this time around and then go full bore for January. Decisions decisions.

750 miles in one week sounds like about 100 miles a day to me.

Is there something wrong with the fluid you have now? Not understanding the need to have 'fresh' oil. You realize those are recommended intervals and not required. If you feel it's that big of an issue just change it Friday regardless of the milage. I used to have an old celica that said on the oil filler cap to change the oil every 10000 miles. I think oil technology has come a long ways since '81. Should be okay to run a few hard laps with 'old' oil. Just my .02 cents.

I was talking to afew guys that I trust and have alot of experience with cars and they said you really should take it easy (except for 3 high power runs to seat the seals in the engine) until 1500 miles. There is a break in additive in the engine oil that should be changed at 1500 miles. I personally prefer to change engine oil and diff oil at 1500 miles. As I said I may just do a couple good runs but I am not sure yet.

I see. Well, guess there are at least two schools of thought on that. Some, like your friends that say drive it carefully then change out oil at 1500 and the others that say drive it hard like you will be doing to seat the rings. I was never able to drive easy. Doesn't matter initially because you have the warrenty. I understand you not wanting to ruin it since its brand new. I look forward to seeing it in person.
84 mi raound trip is only gonaa get you 588 miles. Better give it to the wife and let her rack up some miles on it while your at work.
See you next week

I won't be able to make it to the birthday party either. My daughter had her wisdom teeth taken out a couple of days ago and we're still into soft foods since she still has a lot of lingering pain.

I'll try to get to A&W sometime after darkish, though.

Have fun at the party!
