Using the Droid with the BA system?

Anyone using the Droid with the Boston Acoustics system in their Camaro? I am thinking of jumping away from the AT&T network finally. The Droid looks to be a great phone but I am concerned with the music playback with the BA system.

dude i just ordered the droid, should get it monday...

unfortunately i dont have a 2ss with bluetooth so i cant comment...

If you stay on ATT get the iphone... its killer...

If you go to Verizon, deffinately get the droid...

i work in IT and ive honestly tested every smart phone on Verizon and they all suck IMHO when you compare it to the iphone. the Droid is the only one that comes close/surpasses...

I have a biased opinion prob because i hate Windows Mobile, and Blackberry for uncountable reasons...

You should have a few options...
  • Playing music over bluetooth. This should work fairly well. But won't charge your phone and will require you to control it from your phone.
  • USB. This one is a question mark. It depends on how the Droid/Android exposes the memory card/storage. If it does it as standard USB removable storage, it should work fine. This will charge the phone while playing and control will be done through the head unit. This will include the drawbacks of using a USB flash drive in a camaro (indexing, etc)
  • Aux port. This will likely have slightly lower sound quality (probably imperceptible) and will have the same drawbacks as bluetooth.

I just did the tethering to my DROID during lunch. Bluetooth calls AND bluetooth audio. Sounds GREAT!

I'm using Pandora for free music (A free app IN Verizon's app store... weird) and it's beautiful!

DRIOD + BA Sound system + Kick Ass SS = Geekgasm

Great, did you hook it up to the USB as well? Can the BA system read it or is it strictly Bluetooth?

I currently have an Iphone but want to get away from Apple's policies and AT&T’s network, which I have not been impressed with over the past few years. Droid is the most promising Phone I have seen to date. It’s open source which is better for application development.

I wish I had a Camaro to tell you all if it works through the USB. It should because it has the ability to show up as a "media device" when you connect to Windows. You can also connect it as a USB drive, so if you can't get it to work as a media device, the usb drive feature should allow you to access music the same as a thumb drive... These Android phones are amazing. Streaming internet music, Google Navigation with voice guidance and map updates for free. Plus a ton of other features. But I'm not going to go on a sales pitch!

The "Droid" is from Motorola, just released today (should have mine tomorrow if the sales lady was right about overnight delivery).
Other phones using the Android operating system are from other manufacturers.

Yeah, but I didn't know which one they we're talking about. There's two Droid from verizon. I just wanted to know which one since I'm planning on upgrading my blackberry.

There's the Motorola Droid and then the HTC Droid Eris. Blame Verizon for the confusion. I believe Verizon is trying to get on a consitent "Droid" branding for all their Android phones.

Unhappy

Oh well, that was fun while it lasted.

My bluetooth pairing (for audio, not phone calls) has disappeared and won't reappear now.

Do you allready have an iPhone? I actually plan on switching and rocking the Droid. Just going to leave my iPhone in the car.

And btw, XM forgot to turn off my free service. I got sent a letter a while back saying it was due to get shut off on the 11th. Sorry, just had to someone that. Felt guilty. I'd make a horrible serial killer.
