i put my top down yesterday, and today and went for a ride. AWESOME!! but i already see rub marks and pinches in the top material!! so im going to call my selling dealer, have the recall done, asap, and then use the hell out of it. i hope i still get rub marks, and holes, and when the 5th bow breaks ill bring it in and demand a complete new top assembly. thats the game plan anyhow... unless of course, GM mans up in the meantime and recalls all 2011-2012 and puts complete new tops on the affected ones.

Top Recall

I was lucky, had my car for 2 weeks and brought it to dealer for Borla exhaust install and graphics. They took care of the recall issue, but I saw a car with a damaged top, not pretty.

Guys, I strongly suggest that you get the TSB done. If you have been notifiied and then did nothing about it, GM could hold that over your head should something go wrong.

And correct me if I'm wrong here fellow members, but I don't believe there is any top removal or mechanism adjusting (other than removal of some metal) going on in the TSB.

Received my letter, my top was replaced once back in November/December and I'm scarred that the horrible experience will be repeated! Think I'll wait until they really fix it! I'll live with the wind noise, no rub marks with the new top.

Just got a letter in the mail from Chevrolet in Milwaukee, WI 53209-9989.

Fix / repair good till April 30th 2014. Per Jim Moloney.

As of now just have wind noise in rear corner,NO rub marks, and on rainy days it sounds like water sloushing around in a bag. What is that from ? Vin # ending in B9208287. Bob.

Water sloshing around in a bag is just that. There are water bags part of a water mangement system designed to siphon water off the top and out of the car. Some of these are causing issues. Sloshing sound is normal, so I am told, unless it malfunctions and you end up with water inside the car. Scared me the first time I heard it. Sounded like I was in a boat.

That is really bizarre and it makes me really glad I live in Phoenix. I've had 6 convertibles prior to the Camaro and all the others had tops that sealed up and kept the water out, not something to collect the water that came in. Well, some leaked a few drops here and there around the windows in the constant rain when I lived in Washington, but the tops were designed to seal all the way around. This is a very strange arrangement.

So brengeek...how does the bag drain itself? And where...does it just have a slow drip mechanism to the bottom of the car? Thanks.

Took mine in last Friday for my first oil change. I didn't even mention the recall. The service manger came into the lounge and told me my vin number was listed and he would order the parts to take care of it. I've haven't had a great deal of rubbing on my top, guess I got lucky. Might as well have it taken care to insure it doesn't bite me down the road.

There is a water management system that sits level with the back of the top where it meets the trunk in that area. What happens is the water rolls off of that area and into these little resevoir "bags" and then drains down tubes out of the car. What was happening with the older model verts (11 & first half of 12) is that the bags were not big enough. Also when they'd drain down they act like a bladder and deflate. When they were empty/deflated they'd pinch or close off the drain tubes so that next time the car was exposed to water it'd fill the bag but have nowhere to drain but out into the car. The redesigned ones are larger and are repositioned so that when they deflate they no longer block/pinch the drain tubes.

This upgrade is not a part of the recall. Our old car was determined to have the issues so they ordered the parts. The actual repairs are taking place now that GM owns the car.

Does this make any sense?
