2010 turbo V6 vs 2010 SS

I'm going to turbo my V6 soon and a buddy of mine has a full bolt on and tuned SS he said he would kill me but I would be turbocharged with full bolt ons and tuned how you think this would turn out

A properly done turbo V6 can woop up on even a bolt on SS. The proof is on this forum. That said it really depends on a lot of things I wont get into now and im not saying it would make quick work of any NA SS so dont get upset SS owners.

Your problem is going to be doing a kit for the LLT and tuning it. If U had an LFX then you could go with IPS which builds a pretty stout kit.

Oh yeah a properly built/tuned V6 would beat a bolt on SS.

Turbos are way more efficient at getting that high end hp/tq. As already stated you need to make sure it is done right.

I would steer clear of ebay speicals and bubba shops. Make sure to focus on the supporting mods too. Fuel, drive train, suspension etc. Plenty of members here that have amazing V6 builds so PM them too.

Stunna...I have to say. You're all over the place. I popped into the V6 for sale section and found something...you just posed this thread like a week and a half ago saying you were getting an SS.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371260

So are you really doing any of this?

Haha yeah I no I do be all over I went to get a the SS but found out it used to be a rental car and it looked pretty beat on so I passed on it I always wanted to do a turbo since I Bought the car and I'm finally in a position to do so I really do want a SS but if its not one that really catches my attention I'm not getting it I settled before instead of waiting and ended up with a V6 so I'm going to wait and have fun with what I have until somehing really comes along

Well, just my thoughts and you can do whatever you want to do of course.

But if you really want an SS, forget the turbo for your V6.

Otherwise, if you decide to do the turbo, you should stick with it for a long time, b/c your looking at an easy 6 to 8 grand for a proper turbo setup for the LLT, and like I started to mention above, there are no companies that offer a turbo kit for the LLT, so you would have to go custom. That usually turns out to be a very painful route.

I guess you could ask IPS if they would install a turbo kit on your car since it should be very similar to the LFX, but you'd have to get your own tuning. That said, I don't think they will do an LLT car.

Also if you end up turboing your car, theres no way you will get that money back out of the car, so if you turbo it, and then decide you want an SS you are just wasting your money.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it, but I think you at least need to know what you are up against. If you must put FI on your car, and you want a kit that is the most reliable for the LLT, then go with the IPF supercharger kit. No, it won't be as fast as the turbo could be, but it will be MUCH easier to install, cheaper, and more reliable in the end. You could also remove it and sell it as the kit is basically a bolt on kit.

Most will tell you that is not a very reliable kit. Unless they've improved it significantly, the members here that had the kit ended up fixing it themselves.

Best of luck.

So you don't even own a v6? Yet a turbo is going into it? And you have full bolt ons?

This is my advice I know your like me and wanted to do cams and make a beast NA set up but I gave up on that as well if you want power and reliability you need to use the IPF kit so you don't have to worry about problems I've had 2 supercharger kits and this new one is amazing with the tune. It will push you back and you can walk on most stock v8s from a roll. Turbo is better power and all but is it really wory the head ache of having to work on your car correcting every little problem you run into IMO it's not worth it

take 8k+ to make a v6 as fast as an ss, WHY??? just buy the SS, warranty, more reliable than a tuned/boosted 6...this is a no brainer. save yourself the headache.

just to say he beat an SS with a 6 banger
plus warranty ain't shit. if someone's crazy enough to turbo a 6 you think they wont eventually turbo the 8? the mod bug doesn't go away because you buy a faster car... it just gets worse!
