A car that's clean, shiney, dent free, and well maintained, always looks good. A stock looking car comes across better, to me, over the long haul. Mods generally have a dated look after a while.

I recently traded in my 2013 SS on a ZL1. I looked for a 2012 -2013 because I prefer the look of the taillights over the 14-15. The new ones are really nice. To me they look more European. Still great looking cars.

So far I haven't seen a single 6th gen that I think looks as good or better than my 15 1LE.

Of course looks are subjective.

Well, it's all a matter of perspective.

When it comes to cars like the Camaro, or Corvettes, they really are never "outdated". Each generation has it's own mystique, it's own personality. We're not talking about grocery getters here, we're talking about cars that we had posters of hanging on the wall as kids. Styling is purely subjective, as it is the styling that triggers the emotion. Buying, or wanting to buy a Camaro is an emotional choice, not a practical decision, and that emotion is never outdated.

From a technical and performance view, yes, of course. The new car will always have the advantage. The Gen 6 SS go faster, handle better, and offer more for the occupant. But that's a given, that's the whole point of a new generation.

The 6th gen has the same lines as alot of other cars on the road. The 5th gen stands alone in comparison.......I had a black 2016 pass me going the other direction on a slow busy street. I didn't notice the car until he was almost going by me. A 5th gen you can pick out of the crowd no problem. When I walk out to my garage and see my car sitting there the last think I'm thinking is that it looks dated. 20 years from now when people are building these cars as projects ...new motors drivetrains etc....would you pick the bold clean square look if the 5th gen screams muscle car.Or the more common looking 6th gen that blends in with eveybody other car on the road. The 5th gen still pops...the 6th gen not so much. Just because the designs new doesn't make it nicer then the old version. Technollogy is nice for sure it's more then just that for me.

Looks are subjective, yes, but....

We all will admit that the 1st generation is a classic, one in the history books and one that will always be a trophy winner for its style. That said, the 5th generation borrowed much of that style and thus that classic look along with it. It will have the staying power, maybe not as good as the 1st gen but it will outlast the 6th gen. The 6th gen removed all of the classic, and now looks 100% modern... which will make it look dated much sooner than the 5th gen.

That goes for all the current 'modern' cars with way too many lines trying to look more like something from outer space rather than automobiles.

I agree. I'm as objective as I can be, but I still think the 1LE, especially with some minor exterior mods such as splitter extension/wickerbill/rocker extensions, etc. looks better than the 2016 SS. To me, the new body just looks too much like other cars.

Absolutely true, though I do think there are more current cars that will still look decent in the next few decades, certainly more than the 80's - 90's have.

I think the industry across the board has at least grown a bit more concious of overall shape, though there are some older designs that simply won't be eclipsed anytime soon (Lambo Miura, for example)

The 5th gen made a big splash when the Camaro came back. I wish that GM would have broken away from the looks of the 5th gen. I saw this black Camaro ahead of me on the Interstate. At first I thought it was a 5th gen, but it was a 6th gen. No RS package, not sure if it was a 4 or 6 cylinder. So to use the term dated on the 5th gen, will also apply to the refresh looking 6th gen, IMO.

The 5th Gen and the 1st Gen just stand out and look great. The rest lack in looks in my opinion, but is just me. The Gen6 is nice but somehow just lacks the classic Camaro look. It's too bad but at least we had 5 good years with 2010-2013 being the best.

I think we should figure out who the tech guys are with design skills are here on Camaro 5. Then see if they can come up with a few different designs that we can vote on. The community could give some input as to what we think would be good. Maybe vote on the different designs. Would make for a hell of a car design I'm thinking.

Seriously? Outdated? Do we miss the point of why new models are created?
