Engine swap question

If I were to put an ls1 into my 2010 camaro ss, what would be needed aside from harness adapters to make the harness work? I assume all the belt driven accessories and transmission all mate together but maybe I’m wrong about that too

Curious about a truck motor build. It’s odd but budget friendly, seems easy to put an ls3 into an ls1 car but curious about ls1 to ls3

The whole eco? What if it was a more recent truck motor like a 6.0 or 6.2

You're not making any sense bud. You already have a 6.2L....... Why would you downgrade to an LS1? And a truck engine is heavier unless it's the Caddy L92 or other alum block 6.2L. Not sure what the point is of doing such a thing tbh......

There's enough different between the two. ECU is definitely something that will be different, but the wiring harness may be pretty different between the two since the LS1 was replaced for the LS2 in 2005. For example, the LS1 has a cable throttle body vs. our computer controlled one. Additionally as others have said, why go from 6.2L to 5.7L? After all, there's no replacement for displacement.

I wouldn’t get too focused on the ls1 but in general a truck block, would I be better off switching to a newer truck motor? Everyone is looking at me funny like no one has ever put an iron block truck motor into a 5th gen before. Only said older cause I figured it’d be cheaper

There are many that have done iron block 6.0 yes. The LS1 isn't and power limit for that block is significantly less than an ls3. Are you talking an L96 6.0? Everyone is looking at you funning because an LS3 is superior to an ls1 in every way expect cost

Yes. The ECU is different. When I replaced my motor for a crate engine from the factory I looked into many different options. My ECU was intact, and switching to a different motor meant I might have to replace my $1,200 ECU with a more compatible one. Talk to your Chevy Dealer/Service Dept for the options.

Also, there is the different reluctor wheel between older LS engines vs the LS3 24X vs 58X that would have to be matched to the ECU. There was a lingenfelter box for conversions, but probably going to an older system would wind up not being cost effective either since so much wiring and differences in connections. Unless it's strictly a drag car that is going to be gutted, probably too much of a headache. Just an opinion....
