All depends on the engine. It's either a more track focused ZL1 (light weight CC brakes and tires......) or a NA (Reuss preference as to why the original Z/28 became the ZL1) 500+ HP even lighter weight (avoiding SC mass) very specific car for track use only similar to the Gen5. Either is faster around the track.

Can't wait to see what happens.

And so you have arrived at the defining, enthusiast mystery of the 6th generation Camaro....

Me, either!!!

A "ZL1.R", or a Z/28 reboot...both will be atomic.

The truth is, track times don't sell sh!t, HP does. Witness the ENDLESS hype the Hellcat has had, and the roughly 25,000 units sold in just 2yrs. That is a *huge* success, and from a 9yr old design with an ancient chassis platform.
The Z/28 was a great way to sell 1LEs. GM essentially had 2 options for getting people to buy the 1LE. They could either dump a ton of cash on a marketing campaign to get the word out about the existence of a package that few knew about 20 years ago ... let alone today. Or, bring in the ultimate track Camaro. Let it steal the spotlight and draw people into the showroom. If they buy one, great. If they balk at the price, hey look over here ... its called a 1LE, for half the cost you can get yourself 90% of the thrill.

Welcome to the world of halo cars.

Building to order works quite well when things can be fabbed up by hand. Doesn't work so well when it has to integrate into a mass production system.
Build 50% of the yearly production for the 5th gen and then only build what customers order after that 50%.

Interesting that ZL1s are getting shipped and there hasn't been a magazine review. Or at least I haven't seen one.

Becky posted pics of the black car at Rodgers Chevrolet and it looked delicious.

Alfa-Romeo is quite impressive. A 4 door V6 only 3 sec behind the ZL1...

GM released an LT376/535 crate engine. It's not emissions certified but I wonder if it would pass. It's just CNC heads and a hot cam.

Fen says there will be two Chevy reveals at LA. Based on spy shots, this would be about the time the Z/28 should be revealed.

I need to hit the lottery so I can afford a small house and large garage to park a Z/28. Sometime I wonder why I keep thinking about cars I can not affford.

I'm about 60-40 split in favour of it being there, which is less confident than I was a few months ago.

Time will tell.
