Cool How Fast would a LS7 Camaro be?

Assuming the rumors are true, and it has the same 505 HP from the Z06. How fast would it be? Am guessing a bit faster than a Challenger 392 and on par with a Boss 302.

The 392 I believe is just as fast as the boss 302 if not a bit faster from the stock time slips I've been seeing. So saying that, a camaro that is lighter than the 392 with 35 more hp will be faster than both. All in all, it's still a drivers race but you would have a small advantage.

It would be a bit faster, more cubes and more power though out the rev range. I would say easy mid to lower 12 car so about .5-.7 faster then a avg stock ls3 car. But really no reason for anyone to go and sell your ls3 camaro for a ls7 camaro Not worth it in my opinion! Now if I did not own a camaro and I was in the market, an LS7 camaro would be on my list.

So and extra ~70hp and torque from the engine will not provide any sort of meaningful difference in speed and pefromance? Why do people put aftermarket cams in their cars to the tune of ~50rwhp gain if all that power makes no difference in how fast their car is over stock?

If true....

The benefit of an LS7 would be most noticed around the track....if coupled with the 1LE suspension. What it allows them to do is add 80hp and a higher redline (for racing), without effecting an ounce of weight or weight balance. While it's larger displacement, all small-blocks are the same physical size (comparing car-to-car, and no sueprcharger ).

I'm sure it'd cut off half a second or so at the drag strip, too.

But the increase would not only be in terms of peak hp, but also overall hp across the curve, as well as a big increase in torque.

I think a drop of a full second if not more. A Camaro is perhaps 600 lbs heavier than a C6Z. They can run mid 11's in the hands of good but not amazing drivers (been done many times). Now add 600 lbs. 11.5@124 becomes 12.1@118. Something like that.

I think that's right. A ZL1 runs high 11s, so I'd say mid 12s for a LS7 Camaro. But first GM would have to actually build this car...

This...

Predicting a hero time for 1/4-mile running, imho, would be less important for something akin the so-far-unannounced ZEE than what time it could run @ VIR in Lightening Lap circumstances...which surely would be sub-3:00...

But to "answer" the question: low-to-mid 12s, depending on driver talent...
