I bought my 1LE shortly after seeing the 6gen. It greatly disappointed.

LOOKS ARE SUBJECTIVE ON THE 17 1LE ,but performance is what the 1LE is all about to begin with and the 17 1 LE has that in spades .

Agreed. The nostalgia is pointless. It also looks very good in person, in my opinion : )

That's what I did.

The 6th gen débuted mid-May '15.
I absorbed every picture of the '16 I could find.

I was terribly undecided for the first 2-3 weeks after the début.
But as more pics of the '16 came out, I noticed there were several angles of the car that were unflattering.
And mostly I just could not get over how wrong the quarter window/rear shoulder line is. Bugs the living s**t out of me.

That's when I knew. Had to get a 5th gen 1LE.
The 6th gen just doesn't have the American muscle car vibe/presence that the 5th gen does.

I would wait until 2018 or 2019 to get a 1LE, let them get all the bugs out, the 2016 SS's are having lots of issues (see 6thgen forum warranty section).

What seems to be the main category of issues? Minor fit & finish, or mechanical?

I recently drove a new SS. I know it's not the 1LE and it definitely felt more nimble than a 5th gen ss and maybe even my 1LE, but it didn't feel as fun. Things felt better (stiffer, lighter, etc) but all in a bad way. Not sure if that makes sense but I don't see myself trading in.

I too agree! But it's always a given these days that the latest will most likely always outperform(stock) it's predecessor! It takes $$'s to stay in the game if always having the latest to be the greatest. Like keeping up with the Jones... If you have the $$'s then it's a no issue. I think for the most part, if your happy and content with what you have, keep it and enjoy it! For those that can upgrade to the latest, we are happy for you! That's my two cent perspective.

Peace,
Brent

Ditto. I bought my 2015 1LE in August. All along I had planned to wait for the 2016, but even after giving it some time to grow on me, I just couldn't warm up to the styling. I knew I had to jump on the 1LE while it was still available. I love my car and haven't regretted my purchase for one second. Supercharged it one week after I bought it, with only 250 miles on the odometer.
