I doubt 2011 GT500 weighed in at the max 3,820 with a full tank of gas when it beat the 3,300lb GS, probably more like the curb weight Car and Driver got of 3,751 or mine at 3,780 like mine weighed in with a little over 1/4 tank.

I'm now down to 3,660lbs with my drag wheel/tire combo. I cant wait to see what a 3,5xx lb 2011 GT500 with light weight racing wheels, better tires and a few seats missing could do. I bet it would of beat the Zo6 that same day it beat the GS. I think Im gonna pull my passenger seat next time and see if I can get into the 3,5xx range with a GT500 which until now was unheard of especially just by swapping wheels and removing 1 seat. I could do a tubular K member with 2 piece rotors and save another 100+lbs.

I'm pretty sure there's a stripped out 2011 GT that weighs 3,020lbs or something like that so I can see the possibility of a 3,200lb GT500 in the future since they both have aluminum DOHC V8's just mine has an extra 120lbs of supercharger parts and a TR6060.

So does a camaro have to run a full tank or something? was the vette at a full tank and the gt500 not? im not getting that argument lol. 3800lb curb weight is 3800lb curb weight etc etc all things equal

are you trying to tell me 50-80 lb made it possible? what if one driver was fatter than the other lol.

Is the camaro just to that magic weight number (30-50lbs) heavier than the gt500 to where it is hindered by weight? that isnt a difference worth even mentioning.

I dont follow at all man...

and yes...EVO's 2011 GT was 3090 race weight. It was under 3000 lbs without a driver.

right now its safe to say my SS is faster with 430WHP LS3 engine to his stock 5.0L .

i know the mustang is lighter. i am thinking his car will be faster, what do you guys think
I thought this thread was about engine bolt ons and tuning ? not skid pad g`s and handling

so you get to run him yet???????

Congrats man! Glad you're happy. Definitely an upgrade from the civic listed in your "Drives:" time to change that!

Congrats! I remember when I got mine. I was a surreal moment when the dealer dropped to the price I negotiatied and the words "OK! Let's do it!" came out of my mouth.

You'll love it!

All things equal yes it would not be a very likely outcome. But since when is everything equal in real world situations? And even all things equal...the cars are rather close in performance...if he just had a couple mods he could likely win. (cobra still stock) Why would it need to be a "horrible" driver. A horrible driver couldnt run 13's in a terminator.

My friend could consistently beat ls1 cars on the street with his cat back and gears 1990 mustang gt 5 speed. He was convinced they still ruled the street until 2005 when I got my 98 camaro and beat him by buslengths like he literally pulled the e-brake. He promptly built a 408 stroker for the car and just ran out of money in the process lol...but thats a different story.

I would say that the majority of people are not good drivers.
Well my interpretation of "badly", in this context, is similar to bus lengths. I don't see an auto SS beating a Terminator badly. Things aren't always equal, but looking at "real world" situations, you also have to be a bit realistic. Beating a car that you'd normally lose to is one thing. Beating one "badly" is a whole other issue, just saying...

That's the issue. People beat horrible drivers, so they think that the car, and the car alone, is somehow able to hang or beat cars that it has absolutely has no business being on the same street with. With that being a said, a well-maintained, and I do mean well-maintained Termi should have an edge over the SS, with drivers being equal.

You guys do realize the 5th gen camaro is no faster than the 4 gen right? Sure it has 80 more hp but it also has a lot more weight. A 4th gen couldn't beat a terminator and neither can a bolt on 5th gen.

the 5th gen (LS3) puts down about 65rwhp more and weighs about 350-400lbs more. The difference should still make the LS3 car a bit faster than the 4th gen and a bit slower than the cobra. probably right in between

thats an exhorbant amount of weight reduction. People REALLY take a lot out of the "spirit" of "bolt-ons only" or "cam only" when they do such extensive weight reduction or more so when they dont list how much theyve reduced. Especially the people who reduce weight to run a certain number at the track and then throw it back on for street driving and throw around the track numbers like thats what the car will do. In cases like those, the track numbers are not really indicative to how fast the car is in the condition its actually driven.

should still be a good race. horsepower is only one variable!

At the dealership:

The happy wife:

Got a great deal on the car... so good that it converted my skeptical wife! Now she wants to drive it everywhere!

Kind of strange that this was really the first one to come along (that I know of) within an hour's drive that was a 1LT Victory Red RS. Glad we didn't have to bother with ordering or transferring one.
