Thanks to all that gave their two cents!

After all this talk, I believe I'll be going with my gut instinct and get the Camaro. It's a car I can be proud to drive, rather than compromise on what I really want. I just wouldn't be 100% satisfied with a Mustang, even if it is half a second quicker off the line.

While I respect what Ford has done with the new 2011 Mustangs, I'm ending my "flirtation" and will purchase a Camaro when the funding lines up for it (should be soon).

Congrats! I think you made the right choice! Following your gut on this kind of thing is usually the best thing

Congrats. It sounds like you preferred the camaro from the beginning and in that case, this is definitely the better choice. Any idea on what color you're going to get?

I think my username says it all...

Victory Red is my first choice, but if I find a V6 RS locally with the options/price I'm looking for, I may choose otherwise. Cyber Gray and Summit White are nice as well.

Orange, silver, IBM, yellow and green are all non-factors!

I do believe you are the 1st person to call the V6 underpowered...

Bottom line is it's your hard earned money so get the car you want...

FWIW the guys that dynoed my car said I dynoed about 10hp higher to the wheels than the 2011 Mustang V6 did. I'm on my 3rd Camaro (94,99,and now 2011) so I'm partial as far as that goes good luck with your purchase whichever route you take!

Again, this car will be a DD. I'm sure the V6 is better on insurance, and obviously easier at the gas pump.

But hey, if I could find a new 1SS for $30k, it might get me thinking twice.

Why does it have to be a new 1SS for $30K? You can find a gently used 2SS on the forums for that or less. Saving $4-5k may be worth the 8 months of warranty you wouldn't get.

The used ones I've seen within a 100 mile radius (on here, Cars.com, Craigslist, etc.) usually have over 10,000 miles on them.

Besides, I like having a new car that is untouched.
