You would think that nowadays with all the hp wars that manufacturers would want to advertise the higher numbers for bragging rights. Some people shop by the numbers.

Exactly.

If Car Manufacturers listed "True" numbers instead of Estimated numbers, sales would go up quite a bit.

I know Ford and GM would make a ton of $$$ by doing that. However, I think it's a marketing ploy set out by big car manufacturers. Not sure why they do it, but hey, just the way it is I guess.

I highly doubt the rear axle has to do with it.

It's probably due to a high compression 5.0 4V motor that makes such good power.
