Isn't $2k about right for a set of billet forged wheels? Especially some meant for the high stress of drag racing.

Yes and no.

If you go to some more common sizes, the typical price is ~ $200 for mainstream brands or ~$150 for generic brands.

The 5th generation camaro uses an odd ball size. Oddball = custom = lots of $$$

Yeah, I meant among all the other 5th gen camaro wheels.

I would expect a good looking super light 17x4.5" drag race wheel that clears big ass brakes to be expensive.

You can get the complete set of wheels for under $2000. I don't know where the $3500-4000 comes from???

There's a lot of R&D that goes into these wheels to make them fit on these cars with factory brakes. Other brands require to switch to V6 brakes and maybe you guys aren't familiar with how everyone got the Prostarts and Draglites to fit the 4th Gen cars. It took a lot of grinding material off the caliper. None of which is required with these wheels. These aren't a $10,000 f-body we are talking about here. You're talking about a $30,000+ vehicles. In a perfect world everything would be free. But to get a quality part that fits and takes the abuse these wheels will, you get what you pay for. Performance cars aren't cheap...

I meant that price with tires included, I understand your point and they are very nice wheels! Just needed to rant, I was expecting a better price from weld!

Here's a video from the guys at Weld that let you know exactly what it takes to get this wheel to this point.

CET - Camaro Enthusiast Tax I was waiting for this style in an 18-20 inch rim. I guess Ill wait. Too bad. Weld makes great stuff but I cant see the added price because the application. I bought Weld prostars for my 93 new for $1000 for the set.
