Getting adhesion promoter off of car trunk paint
I installed my RK sport 3 piece spoiler last night and due to its size and reliance on only 3M tap for installation I used a bit of this stuff to help it stick better:
"pro foam molding tape adhesion promoter" https://www.acklandsgrainger.com/ima...2FJ70_AS01.JPG The only problem now is that I put the stuff on the trunk a little "too" generously and where ever it landed it left these glued marks that look like dried streaks. I tried using rubbing alcohol, goo-gone and soap and water. Nothing seems to get it off. Has anyone else had this problem? I don' t know what to do to get it off. The spoiler looks amazing but the dripped adhesion promoter definetly detracts from its stylishness.... |

Is the stuff sitting on top of your paint or has it etched it?
If it is just sitting on top, I'd try a clay bar and see if that works. That is the safest route going forward. If that fails I'd carefully experiment with adhesive removers. If that fails I'd get out the random orbit polisher and see if it will come off that way. If the paint is etched, however, that's a whole different problem and polishing may be your only hope. This will probably get moved to the detailing section where you will most likely get more help. |

WD-40, bug n tar remover or even try peanut butter. Peanut butter has the oil in it and will remove gum from certain things. Worth a try anyways.
If not go with what Jimmy suggested, clay bar or polisher.

3m adhesive remover. Won't harm your paint. I used it when I took off the bow ties and Camaro emblems. Works great.

Another vote for 3M. And then the next step would be polishing if necessary.
I bet next time you'll tape off the edges Huh Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
