AFM on SS auto 6th gen vs 5th gen question
For any of those that have driven the auto 6th gen SS and the 5th gen SS, is the AFM as awful as it was on the 5th gen SS? I seriously cannot stand to drive my 5th gen without the Range AFM in my car now because of how it drives when the AFM kicks in.

Look at the cars in my sig, they have all been automatic AFM's.
THE 13 2SS was terrible , i also used a range The 14 vette, your ss powertrain , was fine, an occaisional bump but totally manageable without range The 16 v6 camaro, the best yet, have yet to feel it so far |

Yes, this question needs to be addressed. I almost sold mine before I had it tuned and AFM/DOD turned off. Night and day difference.

Also it's funny I was about to post you didn't feel the AFM because the V6 doesn't have it and then I checked and sure enough the 6th gen is the first V6 to have it. Guess you learn something new every day lol |

It's a million times better than 2012 2SS I had.

I test drove a 2016 2SS (A8) a week or so ago and never did sense the AFM kicking in. I drove about 10 miles in varying conditions and speeds... never felt it. I think GM may have gotten it right this time.
My '13 1SS (A6) is horrible to drive without the Range device plugged in.

What's the difference between the 5th Gen and 6th Gen AFM?

Not noticeable on my 16 SS, and I had a 2010 SS and that was horrible.

Just test drove a V6 with the AFM. On the center display you could see when it was calculating gas mileage - it kept changing from V6 to "V4" but I never felt the engine change. Just saw the mileage calculations change when I hit the level for the AFM to kick in.

Thanks to everyone for all the information. I was surprised this question wasn't on here before I posted (and if it was I missed it) but this all sounds much more promising!

And I think the A8 tranny makes a large difference as well.

Hey
I did start a post bout it a while back, not a fan, but have begrudgingly gotten used to it, hardly feel it, and I was watching info board switching back and forth,lol... we should all watch oil consumption and post future problems.. bigger concern, getting that oil catch can soon, more interested in protecting power I have than adding on....
